Exteriors were redesigned by Palace Resorts in-house architects, and modern aesthetics were brought to life in the interiors by the design team led by Claudia Ferreiro. Upon entering the grandiose new lobby, guests are instantly transformed by its unique, tropical, yet modern-chic look, competing with some of the most sought-after hotels around the world. The team has created a fresh new environment inspired by the textures of nature, with natural elements, sand tones, and earthy materials, creating a space that combines architecture and interior design with the powerful landscape and infinite panorama of the Caribbean Sea.
The design team sought to bring the outside world and feeling of nature into the interiors of the resort. “During the renovation of Sun Palace, lighting played a fundamental role in ensuring we created a warm, relaxed ambiance,” said Claudia Ferreiro. “The new look includes natural stone, marble, and wood sourced locally from the region, eluding to the richness and beauty of the environment. Our goal was to make guests feel relaxed and Zen.” In addition, furniture exclusively designed for the property features a variety of Mexican textiles incorporating the earth’s natural elements.
