G Adventures Launches First Trip to Moldova and Introduces New Standalone Trip in Romania

The new adventures explore two unsung nations in Eastern Europe

July 23, 2025 – Continuing its commitment to making travel a force for good while offering travelers new ways to explore the world, adventure travel and community tourism pioneer, G Adventures, is excited to be launching three new trips in Eastern Europe, an often overlooked part of the world. The first is to Moldova – an entirely new destination for the small-group adventure company, and one that is often bypassed by other operators – while the second is a standalone trip to Romania, with time in one of the last truly untouched parts of Europe. When combined, the trips create an epic 14-day-long Eastern European adventure through two unsung nations.

The new trips represent everything G Adventures strives to achieve with its innovative tourism development, by supporting locals, often in undercelebrated countries or regions, by building meaningful relationships that directly benefit the communities that are visited. Through those relationships, travellers can experience new cultures with considered itineraries that are exciting and educational, and packed with fun and immersive new experiences to enjoy with like-minded travelers – whether it’s tasting new foods and wines with hospitable hosts in Moldova, or marvelling at the peaceful untouched corners of Romania.

Yves Marceau, vice president of product at G Adventures, is excited to help G Adventures’ travellers experience two lesser visited countries in Eastern Europe, while keeping operations there sustainable and beneficial to local communities. “These are two really exciting and beautiful parts of the world that remain under the radar for tourists. Here at G Adventures, we are committed to ensuring that our product and traveller bring benefit to local communities by bringing them into the conversation and our supply chain from the beginning. These trips are a fantastic example of tourism done right – where travelers can have real cultural experiences and build connections with local communities, who are welcoming tourism with open arms. Each itinerary is designed to take travelers to places that don’t experience overcrowding but with so much to offer, from incredible landscapes and wildlife to food, wine, history and tranquility,” Marceau concludes.

Moldova Discovery

The first trip in the region is a seven-day journey through Moldova, a country that has successfully emerged from behind the Iron Curtain and has so much to offer keen travelers, with its fascinating history, warm hospitality and incredible food and wine scene. It starts with time appreciating the architecture and parks of Chisinau, Moldova’s little-known capital, wine tasting in a vast underground limestone cave that’s a staggering 160km long and 80 metres deep, plus peaceful moments soaking up the serenity of Monastery of Saharna, which is surrounded by the forests and waterfalls of the Nistru river. The group will then visit Fromage – Made In Moldova, a project that blends tradition with sustainability while supporting disadvantaged families in the village of Horodiște, Rezina, to learn about the production of 100% natural, chemical-free cheeses, with an all-important tasting to follow.

Over the following days, the group will hike to Trebujeni village, taking in the natural beauty and birdlife of the River Raut valley and the archaeological complex of Old Orhei, which has recently been included on the UNESCO Tentative List of World Cultural Heritage, before a cooking masterclass at a traditional agro-pension, where the group will learn to prepare ‘Placinte’, a traditional pastry with cheese and seasonal ingredients, before enjoying a delicious lunch of local dishes. In the final days, the group will step back in time in Gagauzia, which offers a real immersion in history with its Soviet-era and Orthodox Christian buildings, and even get to take part in the recreation of a traditional wedding ceremony in the hall of the National Gagauz History and Ethnographic Museum, before a local lunch with wine pairing, plus vineyard tour, in the heart of Gagauzia’s wine region.

Priced from $1,499* pp with departures from April 18, 2026.

Highlights of Romania & the Danube Delta

The new eight-day trip through neighbouring Romania is a celebration of one of Europe’s last truly wild places. The group will travel from Bucharest to the Transylvania region on a day of castle exploration, from the iconic Peles castle to the medieval Bran Castle, made famous by Bram Stoker’s novel, Count Dracula. There’s free time to stroll Medieval Bran before heading into the undiscovered Buzau region of Romania for a visit to the Berca Mud volcanoes – a geological marvel of petit volcano-shaped structures. Then it’s on to the Danube Delta, where the group will travel by boat deep into the heart of the delta to the remote village of Mila 23, which is only accessible by water. Travellers will relax in a local guest house, tuck into a home-cooked meal of local fish and vegetable dishes and enjoy the tranquility of one of Europe’s last untouched regions, before a day exploring the area’s natural beauty – an ecological wonder that’s a web of canals, lakes and reed beds that’s home to pelicans, herons, egrets and more. Hearing first hand from the local Lipovan community that calls the region home, the group will learn about the importance of the ecosystem and the traditions that are alive and well here. The trip culminates with a relaxing day on the wild beach of Sulina, where lucky travellers may catch a glimpse of the elusive wild horses that roam here, before returning to colourful Bucharest.

Priced from $1,849* pp with departures from April 11, 2026.

About G Adventures

G Adventures isn’t just a travel company — we’re a community committed to changing lives through travel. Since 1990, when social entrepreneur Bruce Poon Tip set out to transform the way people see the world, we’ve been leading the charge in community tourism and small-group adventures. With more than 900 life-changing trips across 100+ countries and all seven continents, we help travellers connect deeply with the people, cultures, landscapes, and wildlife that make each place so unforgettable — all while having the time of their lives.

But it doesn’t stop there. Because for us, travel isn’t just about where you go — it’s about how you give back while you’re there.  Our ‘G for Good’ social impact initiatives ensure every trip does just that. In 2018, we launched the industry-first Ripple Score™ to track how much of our travellers’ money stays in the local economy (we’re proud to average 92% across our trips). Together with our non-profit partner, Planeterra, we also help power over 130 community tourism projects across the world. And through our Trees for Days initiative, we’ve planted over 3 million trees (and growing), one for every day a traveller spends on a G Adventures trip, helping both communities and the planet thrive.

At G Adventures, we believe travel should change the world — not just for the traveller but for everyone they meet along the way. Our one-of-a-kind culture fuels a global community that transcends borders, builds connection, and spreads joy, curiosity and humanity wherever it goes. Because we’re not just about seeing the world. We’re about making it better, together.
