021 Kicks Off Small Boat Adventure Cruising in a Big Way with
U.S. Flagged Small Boat Company UnCruise Adventures
JUNEAU, AK., May 14th, 2021 – On Sunday, May 16th UnCruise Adventures will co-host a Toast to Alaska event prior to the departure of a sold-out cruise on the Wilderness Discoverer. The company announced today they have partnered with Travel Juneau and several local businesses, along with Senator Kiehl to co-host a COVID safe press briefing and official welcome back event.
The event celebrates the beginning of recovery to an entire industry and will include a traditional welcome from local Tlingit tribal members from Alaska Native Voices and statements from UnCruise Adventures CEO, Dan Blanchard, Senator Jesse Kiehl, and Travel Juneau president Liz Perry. The state’s commitment to economic recovery and procedures for safe travel will be addressed.
In an April 30th statement on gov.alaska.gov Alaska Governor Dunleavy stated, “Today I took immediate action to end the COVID-19 disaster declaration. Alaska is in the recovery phase where an emergency declaration is no longer necessary. It is important our focus remains on getting Alaska’s economy back on track and welcoming summer tourism throughout our great state. I am confident in our state’s future as we move forward.”
The private event will be a memorable send-off for guests including a customized welcome back gift boxes of locally made Alaskan products by Juneau Food Tours and a personal send-off from UnCruise Adventures CEO. The event will also be streamed live on the UnCruise Adventures Facebook page.
“As countries around the world begin to relax travel restrictions and the CDC supports vaccinated travel, we look forward to welcoming our guests back on board for safe adventure cruising” shares Captain Dan Blanchard. “We are the first small boat cruise line to sail with fully vaccinated cruises in Alaskan waters and the first overnight passenger vessel in nineteen months. Alaska we are back!”
