Contiki Launches Exclusive Mystery Trips With New Virtual Travel Lounge

With young travelers keen to get back out into the world, but with a level of uncertainty still remaining around bookability and departures, a new initiative by youth travel leader Contiki Holidays provides an excitingalternative to waiting it out.


A leader in youth travel since 1962, Contiki recognizes that changing border controls, safety requirements andquarantine rules make travel almost impossible to plan at the moment.


The solution? The Contiki Travel Lounge – a private member’s-only Facebook and email group that keen travelers can opt-in to, for hot-off-the-press releases of available spots on upcoming 2021 Contiki tripdepartures along with access to Mystery trips at exclusive discounts, plus giveaways and safe travelupdates.


The Contiki Travel Club will give those in the know the chance to grab an available spot on some  of the first Contiki trips to be hitting the road this European summer at the same low deposit as usual, as well as thepeace of mind knowing that if things change after booking, they’ll still be covered by Contiki’s Flexible Bookingguarantee.


Members will also have the chance to take advantage of exclusive discounts of up to 40% off on Mystery trips – popular Contiki trips, with details unknown until after booking – with limited spots available on each trip,offered only to Lounge members.


Mystery trips are an appealing option to Gen-Z, with 67% of respondents from across the globe in Contiki’srecent Voice of a Generation survey (Jan 2021) stating that they would book a mystery travel ticket, even if itmeant not knowing where they were going until the day before.


Upon joining the Contiki Travel Lounge with free access via Contiki’s Facebook Group or email list, members of the Lounge will receive regular ‘trip drops’ detailing dates and prices for trips available to book immediately, as well as the exclusive Mystery trip drops every month. With only 1-2 spots available at the exclusive discounted rate on Mystery trips, the trick for members will be getting in first to take advantage of an incredibledeal.


The Mystery trips will be presented with tantalizingly limited details, only including vital information such asdates, price and departure location, along with a ‘vibe’ – for example ‘Med sun, swim spots and outdoor dining’ – with an eagerly-awaited trip reveal to happen only once the booking has been confirmed.


Members of the Contiki Travel Lounge will also be offered regular giveaways, with Contiki’s signaturesustainable water bottles, Teemill t-shirts and tote bags up for grabs. The members-only Facebook groupwill also serve as a virtual social club, allowing potential travelers to connect with other potential travelers as theylook forward to and plan their future travels.


Travelers in the UK and US will likely be the first to benefit from the launch of the Contiki Travel Lounge, as their countries look to open up borders for leisure travel in the coming months – however the Lounge is open to aworldwide audience to join and connect.
