Since last month when we looked at the Italian Resort and Hotel company that Palace Resorts has invested in we will now look at the Palace Resorts all-inclusive resort chain.
For some history, Palace resorts was started by a Mexican family and run by 2 brothers 30 years ago. The majority of their resorts were in Mexico, and they expanded not the Caribbean with resorts in the Dominican Republic and Jamaica. In the mid 2000s the ownership of Palace Resorts split with one brother taking a number of Palace Resorts and partnering and rebranding the resorts with the Hard Rock organization. The remaining resorts are run as Palace Resorts. There are 9 of them including their two 5 star Palace Resorts the Le Blanc level resorts, one in Cancun and one in Los Cabos.
This month we will look at the first 3 of them starting with the 3 resorts with the Moon Palace name. The original Moon Palace just outside of Cancun, the Moon Place Grand located in the same complex, and the Moon Palace located in Jamaica
Let’s start with the original Moon Palace Cancun located just outside of the Cancun hotel area close to the airport.
Moon Palace Cancun sitting on 123 acres, teems with energy, luxury, and possibility. This dynamic family friendly all-inclusive resort features fine gourmet dining and unlimited premium drinks. Enjoy pristine beaches, a 27-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course, our world-class Awe Spa, exotic tours, the best nightly entertainment, and super-fun kids and teens areas. The resort has three different resort areas, the Sunrise area, the Nizuc area, and the Golf Villas. The Sunrise area is in the center of the activities while the Nizuc area is at the center of the resort and is a little quieter area and the Golf Villas are very quiet, remote, and set along the golf course.
Accommodations at the resort consist of 2,400 rooms, suites, and villas. All rooms are the same, only the view from the room changes, there is the Garden View, Ocean View, and the Ocean front rooms. All rooms contain upgraded amenities, a whirlpool tub in the room, 24 hr. room service, and free Wifi, all rooms hold up to 4 guests with 1 king bed or 2 double beds. The Golf Villas are basically Jr. Suites with king bed holding 2 guests situated along the golf course. Because the Golf Villas are more remote each accommodation comes with its own golf cart to get around the property. The Suites consist of the Swim-up Suite holding up to 4 guests, the 1 bedroom Governor’s Suite with 2 balconies and 1 king bed, next there is the Family Suite which is really 2 connecting rooms, one with a king bed and one with 2 double beds. Finally, there is the Presidential 2 bedroom Suite sleeping up to 6 guests. All Suites come with free WIFI, 24 hr room service, and upgraded amenities.
Dining offers a wide variety of choices consisting of 3 Mexican restaurants, 2 Italian restaurants, 4 Pan Asian and International restaurants. There are also 4 snack areas serving burgers, pizza, and barbecue, and of course 24 hr. room service. As far as drinks and clubs, guests have 8 choices from 2 relaxing lobby bars, a beach bar, a sky bar, an entertainment bar, a golf club bar, a British pub bar, a pool bar, and a night club that is open until the wee hours.
Activities abound at the resort starting with 27 holes of golf, Tennis, Pickleball, basketball, Bikes, kayaks, sailing, paddleboarding, snorkeling, 2 wave machines for surfing, great long beach for relaxing and walking, the beach is not very deep but is long and great for walking. There is a great night club where guests can party the night away. Kids 4-12 have their own club that provides indoor and outdoor supervised activities with a game room and their own movie theater. There is a wonderful spa, and the resort is one of the more popular for destination weddings. You are close to Cancun if guests want to partake in shopping and nightlife.
The Moon Palace Cancun is very popular for families and adults with something for everyone to do. I must warn you that it is one of the more aggressive timeshare resorts with a large timeshare sales force.
The next Moon Palace Resort we will look at is the Moon Palace the Grand and it is located in the same complex as the Cancun Moon Palace but is operated as a separate resort. This resort is their more upscale property. Say “Hasta la vista” to all things ordinary at Moon Palace The Grand – Cancun. Unwind in our luxurious accommodations. Cool yourself in one of nine refreshing pools or sip unlimited premium drinks at our many bars. Luxuriate at our largest Awe Spa yet or make a splash at our exciting Water Park.
Accommodations at the resort consist of 1,316 Jr. Suites and Suites. Starting with the Jr. Suites they have Garden View Jr Suites with a king bed or 2 double beds sleeping up to 4 guests, the Grand Honeymoon Jr. Suite with 1 king bed sleeping 2 guests, then there is the Grand Swim-up Jr. Suite with 1 king bed or 2 double beds sleeping up to 4 guests, we now have the Grand Governors 1 bedroom Suite with 1 king bed sleeping 2 guests, the Grand family Suite consisting of 2 connecting rooms and sleeping up to 6 guests. We end with the Grand 2 bedroom Presidential Suite with 1 King bed and 2 double beds sleeping up to 6 guests.
Dining at the Grand consists of a wide variety of choices plus guests can partake of the dining options at the Moon Palace Cancun. At the Grand they have Mexican, Seafood, Steak, Pan Asian, and Italian as well as a Coffee and Deserts bar, a Tapas and Wine bar, a taco bar, and beach snacks as well as 24 hr. room service. They even have a baby menu just for the little ones. As far as drinks there is the one of a kind night club, an adult day club, 2 swim-up bars, a lobby bar, a bowling alley bar, yes they have a bowling alley, a lounge bar, and a beach bar. Don’t forget the 24 hr. room service.
Activities at the resort include all the activities at the Cancun Palace plus the ones at the Grand starting with the state of the art water park, kayaks, sailing, paddleboarding, snorkeling, bowling, and 27 holes of golf. There is a fantastic kid’s club for children 4 – 12 years old with supervised indoor and outdoor activities, game room including bumper cars and mini-golf. There is a great Spa as well as destination wedding services. There is also a full fitness center.
This resort is great for those looking for a full family experience in an upscale environment. Do remember that Palace has one of the larger timeshare operations.
We now move to Jamaica to conclude our tour of the Palace Resorts Moon Palace series. Here we have the Moon Palace Jamaica located in the Ocho Rios area. Accommodations at the resort consist of rooms and Suites starting with the Deluxe Resort View Room, no balcony, with 1 King bed sleeping 2 guests, the Deluxe Resort View Room with Balcony with 1 King bed sleeping 2 guests, next is the Deluxe Ocean View and Deluxe Ocean View with Balcony with 1 king and sleeping 2 guests, then the Superior Deluxe Ocean View with 1 King bed or 2 Double beds sleeping up to 4 guests, next the Superior Deluxe Honeymoon Room with 1 King bed and sleeping 2 guests, then the Deluxe Ocean View Walkout with 1 King bed or 2 Double beds sleeping up to 4 guests, we then have the Superior Jr. Suite Ocean View wit 1 King bed or 2 Double beds sleeping up to 4 guests. We now move to the Suites starting with the 1 bedroom Ocean View Superior Governor’s Suite with 1 King bed sleeping 2 guests, next is the Family Suite made up of 2 connecting rooms with 1 King bed and 2 Double beds sleeping up to 6 guests, finally we have the Superior 2 bedroom Ocean View Presidential Suite with 1 King bed and 2 Double beds sleeping up 6 guests. All Rooms and Suites come with up-graded amenities, Free WIFI, and 24 hr. room service.
Dining offers a variety of choices including Asian, Italian, Jamaican, Seafood, a Jerk Hut, Coffee and Deserts, a snack bar, International Gourmet snacks, and a baby puree menu, as well as 24 hr. room service. As far as drinks there are many choices beginning with a top notch night club, a lobby bar, a swim-up bar, a Piano bar, and a loud bar. All bars serve top shelf alcohol.
Activities abound at the resort including kayaks, Paddleboarding, sailing, snorkeling, Flo-rider surfing, relaxing on the beach or exploring the sights with an off-site tour. The resort is just minutes from the famed Dunns River Falls. There is the Palace Resorts award inning Spa “Awe” and a great wedding dept. The kids will be occupied with the wonderful kid’s club for kids 4 – 12 providing indoor and outdoor supervised activities.
This resort is great for those that want a fantastic Jamaican experience at a reasonable price and in the heart of the Jamaican action.
