The second edition of the Beyond Luxury Awards took place in Marbella at a ceremony held at the Finca Cortesin Hotel, which brought together the luxury hotel excellence of Spain and Portugal. In addition to the awards obtained, Majestic Hotel & Spa Barcelona entered the Top 5 of the best Spanish luxury hotels of the year, along with Hotel Finca Cortesin, Serras Barcelona, Rosewood Villa Magna and Four Seasons Hotel Madrid.
In the words of Pascal Billard, CEO of Majestic: “We would like to thank the Beyond Luxury Awards for this recognition. We are proud to ensure that every guest who visits us enjoys their stay at Majestic as an unforgettable experience where comfort, the utmost care, and the best services are always at their disposal. Therefore, we will continue to work every day to be better than the last.”
Billard has sought, since joining the Majestic family in 2013, to make the hotel a benchmark of luxury hospitality locally, nationally and internationally. As graduate of the “Jean Drouant” hotel school in Paris, he began his professional career more than 30 years ago at the “Hotel Sofitel Miami” as an assistant waiter, rising to various management positions in the Food & Beverage division. His professional path has taken him to management positions in many grand cities in iconic establishments such as the Château de Bagnols, the Carlton Hotel in Cannes, the Crillon and Plaza Athénée hotels in Paris, the Sanderson Hotel in London, the Delano Hotel in Miami or the Royalton Hotel in New York. His international experience and development have provided him with a unique vision of the hotel industry, together with a global multicultural management capacity.
The Beyond Luxury Awards are the first awards designed to recognize the luxury hotel industry in Spain and Portugal. Winners are selected by a professional and independent jury composed of leading experts in the hospitality, tourism, gastronomy, design, luxury and media sectors.
A hotel recognized by the luxury industry
This is not the first time that Majestic has been awarded in these categories. Its Majestic Breakfast Experience was recognized at the 2018 by the Prix Villégiature awards as the best breakfast in Europe for its selection of top-quality products and proximity, always hand in hand with Mediterranean flavors; and its terrace, La Dolce Vitae, was recognized at the 2019 Prix Villégiature awards as the Best Urban Terrace of a Hotel in Europe. Located on the hotel’s rooftop, it features impressive views to the Sagrada Familia, Gaudí’s Casa Batlló, & Jean Nouvel’s Agbar Tower as banners of a unique panoramic view of Barcelona, combined with a fresh and avant-garde menu, always faithful to local and freshly made products.
In addition, Majestic Hotel & Spa Barcelona has been awarded throughout the year with different recognitions that endorse its tradition and vanguard within the luxury sector. For instance, it has been declared one of the most exclusive hotels in the world by the prestigious U.S. magazine Travel + Leisure Best 500 Hotels in The World, one of the most important lists in the tourism industry. It recently received the Villégiature 2022 Award for the best suite in the world in honor of The Majestic Royal Penthouse.
About Majestic Hotel & Spa Barcelona
“In the world of great luxury hotels, the old is now the new,” – that’s what the experts say when speaking of hotels with such profound tradition and history like Majestic Hotel & Spa Barcelona. Since opening in 1918, the five-star hotel owned by the Soldevila-Casals family has played an emblematic role in Barcelona architecture, society and lifestyle, hosting notable guests such as Ernest Hemingway and Antonio Machado. Led by interior designer Antonio Obrador, the neo-classical French style property has completed a five-year renovation and has reclaimed its place among the iconic landmarks of the vibrant city.
With a privileged location in the heart of Barcelona on stylish Passeig de Gràcia, the 271-room property is home to an unmatched 1,000-piece art collection with works by artists such as Antoni Tàpies and Josep Guinovart. In 2019, Prix Villégiature recognized the hotel yet again, naming its newly-renovated La Dolce Vitae rooftop terrace – with its panoramic city views — as Europe’s Best Hotel Terrace. Under the direction of Michelin star Chef Nandu Jubany, a robust gastronomic offering is highlighted by the Majestic Breakfast Experience, named Europe’s Best Breakfast in 2018 by Prix Villégiature. Additionally, The Leading Hotels of the World, a prestigious organization that represents independent luxury hotels from around the world, recognized the property with the Remarkably Uncommon award in 2018; the hotel has been a member of the organization since December 2014. Majestic Hotel & Spa Barcelona is also home to the city’s largest suite, a 5,000-square-foot penthouse with capacity for six, a dining room, two panoramic terraces and access to a personal butler and chauffeur, named The Best Hotel Suite in the World in 2022 by Prix Villégiature. www.hotelmajestic.es.
