Boat Bike Tours Offers Most Tulip Tour Departures Ever in 2026

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Boat Bike Tours’ tulip tours offer a bouquet of ways to see the Netherlands’ famed fields of blooming bulbs – and spring 2026 will bring more tulip tour departures than ever before. Between late March and early May, 54 departures across six itineraries are available with a variety of tour lengths, boat choices and biking styles. Groups and charters are also welcome. However guests prefer to travel, they’ll see Holland up close and at its most beautiful. For more information about Boat Bike Tours’ tulip tours, visit https://www.boatbiketours.com/tulip-tours/.

“Being from the Netherlands, tulip tours are our specialty – and we’ve got a wide variety of ways to see the spring bloom,” said Laurens Winkel, CEO of Boat Bike Tours. “Choose a short five-day tour, our popular eight-day premium tour aboard a Magnifique barge, a sail-and-bike trip into the Wadden Sea, or our new tulips and Dutch heritage tour. With all of them, you’re sure to enjoy fields upon fields of colorful flowers, our equally famous windmills and cheeses, picturesque towns and more by boat and bike.”

Five- and Eight-Day Tours

Boat Bike Tours’ tulip tours range from five days, which are ideal for those who want to fit the experience into a longer trip, to eight days, which travel farther, to destinations that are less visited but no less scenic. They include:

Premium tours offer a higher level of comfort aboard the boat.

Bulb Fields and Beyond

All of Boat Bike Tours’ tulip tours begin and end in Amsterdam and visit the world-famous Keukenhof gardens, known for their millions of blooming tulips, daffodils, hyacinths and other flowers.

As guests bike among the many other tulip fields of North and South Holland, depending on the itinerary, they may also see the largest flowering bulb field in the world near Den Helder, the largest flower auction in the world in Aalsmeer or the Hortus Bulborum garden in Limmen, which is dedicated to the preservation of rare and historic bulbs.

Beyond bulb fields, tours incorporate the windmills and cheese the Netherlands is also known for.

Every tour visits the Zaanse Schans heritage site, with windmills that still operate, traditional houses, an old-fashioned grocery store, clog maker, cheese farm and more. Zaandam and its windmills, the Schermerhorn windmill museum, a cheese farm in Zoeterwoude, the Dutch cheese capital of Alkmaar, and the cheese towns of Gouda or Edam are also on itineraries.

And tours take in towns like Haarlem, Leiden, De Rijp and Hoorn, dunes along the North Sea, the Wadden Sea island of Texel and the IJsselmeer.

Variety of Boats

Boats that serve as floating hotels on tulip tours include barges, cycling cruise ships and classic schooners.

Barges are small but comfortable with a casual atmosphere, styling that ranges from practical to boutique, well-appointed cabins and excellent dining. Cycling cruise ships are larger and more modern and for those who enjoy amenities like more spacious lounges, bars and restaurants with panoramic windows and a partially covered rooftop deck for relaxing. Two-, three- and four-masted schooners offer a true sailing adventure with nautical styling and deck space to watch the sea from.

Guided and Independent Biking

While most tulip tours are guided, for casual riders who prefer to follow a leader, one itinerary offers independent biking, for seasoned cyclists who want to go their own pace.

On guided tours, a professional tour leader accompanies guests as they visit destinations along the way, explaining local history and culture. Travelers on the independent tour ride at their own pace with printed route descriptions, detailed cycling maps and the Ride With GPS app. The tour leader also rides the route and can be reached by phone if needed.

With both, guests receive an evening briefing about the next day’s ride.

Price Points

Tulip tours are available at a variety of price points, from starting at €849 per person based on double occupancy for a Five-day Tulip Tour to starting at €1,599 for an Eight-day Tulip Tour Premium.
