Royal Caribbean Aims to Reunite 2008 Championship Basketball Team on Harmony of the Seas

Every Player from the Team Must Be Invited for Offer to Stand

MIAMI, March 27, 2017 – After learning that a team of iconic basketball greats were planning a 10-year reunion without inviting a key member of the squad, Royal Caribbean International decided that something needed to be done to mend the lifetime bonds made by winning at the ultimate level. To help settle this unfortunate rift, Royal Caribbean is extending a free vacation and an olive branch to the 2008 basketball champions, giving them the ultimate place to host their reunion aboard the aptly named, adventure-packed ship Harmony of the Seas. As long as every player from the 2008 team is invited, the offer stands.

“At Royal Caribbean, we believe this basketball team was simply too great to let past issues tarnish its legacy,” said Michael Bayley, President and CEO, Royal Caribbean International. “We feel strongly that an adventurous vacation onboard Harmony of the Seas will tempt the group to let bygones be bygones and include every player in this well-deserved moment of celebration.”

To arrange the reunion cruise, any player from the 2008 team can get in touch with Royal Caribbean at royalcaribpr@webershandwick.com. The group of athletes – who famously bonded over the term “Ubuntu,” the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity – took camaraderie to the next level, reaching the highest plateaus of professional success by working together.

Harmony of the Seas is the world’s largest cruise ship with a bold and unexpected lineup of thrilling experiences found nowhere else on land or at sea. From the Ultimate Abyss, a thrilling 10-story-tall slide, to unparalleled entertainment including Broadway’s hit musical Grease and high-diving, acrobatic performances in the iconic AquaTheater, world-class dining in venues ranging from Jamie’s Italian Cuisine by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver to Wonderland, a unique whimsical culinary adventure for the senses; and robot bartenders, there is an adventure for guests of all ages onboard Harmony.
