PhocusWire Unveils Hot 25 Travel Startups for 2025

Coveted list released ahead of The Phocuswright Conference in Arizona

PHOENIX, AZ  (November 19, 2024) – PhocusWire, the leading source for travel technology news and analysis, has announced its highly anticipated Hot 25 Travel Startups for 2025.  Revealed just in time for The Phocuswright Conference, taking place from November 19-21 in Phoenix, Arizona, the 2025 list showcases a diverse group of companies from around the globe that are reimagining the travel industry through innovation and a focus on addressing key traveler pain points.

Despite a recent slowdown in travel startup funding, these companies have demonstrated remarkable resilience and creativity.  The list includes startups leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and decentralized ID to transform various aspects of the travel experience.

Key trends:

  • AI takes center stage: Approximately 10 of the startups utilize AI to enhance their offerings, highlighting the technology’s growing influence in travel.
  • Global representation: The list features companies from Africa, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, the United Kingdom, the United States, and India, underscoring the global nature of travel innovation.
  • B2B focus: A majority of the startups (73.8%) operate in the B2B travel segment, reflecting a growing trend towards business-focused solutions.

“This year’s Hot 25 Travel Startups aren’t just surviving, they’re thriving in a challenging investment landscape,” said Mike Colletta, Managing Director at Phocuswright.  “These companies are not only developing groundbreaking solutions, but they’re also proof that innovation in travel is alive and well, driven by a commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.”

The Hot 25 Travel Startups selection process begins with an ongoing, year-round effort to find early-stage startups working across every sector of travel and in every corner of the globe.  The combined PhocusWire-Phocuswright team, which began the process of narrowing down a list of more than 160 travel startups back in July, continues to look for companies who stand out for their innovation and market potential while also focusing on diversity in founders, sectors and geographies.

The Hot 25 Travel Startups list is now in its seventh year, and has now selected 175 companies in total since its launch.  The year 1-6 entrants have gone on to collectively raise $2.8bn of funding.
