Bloomberg reports that OpenA (ChatGPT)I will launch “Operator” in January. Operator is an agent that will take control of your browser so that it can do chores on your behalf, such as book flights and make hotel reservations. This technology isn’t clearly understood at this point but the intent is to free the user’s time up to accomplish other more complex tasks. This will clearly have an impact with business travelers. It is hard to say what the impact this may have on leisure travel at this point.
Known as “Agentic AI” other AI companies are also pursuing this type of AI produce. Anthropic is launching Agentic AI with Claude, its platform that competes directly with ChatGPT. Not to be left out, Google is also preparing to release “Jarvis” that can also control your browser to book flights and hotels among other chores.
While it will take some time, this will definitely affect travel advisors. It behoves advisors to really focus on a niche where they can add true value to the client’s travel experience.
