Mountain Bike Among Mediterranean Coasts, Islands with Boat Bike Tours’ Islandhopping

Jan. 26, 2026 – FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Mountain biking tours by Boat Bike Tours’ Islandhopping brand offer an easy way for travelers to ride exhilarating trails while cruising among the coastal villages and islands of the Mediterranean. Seven tours are available from the Adriatic in Croatia to the Aegean in Greece and the Gulf of Gökova in Turkey. And because mountain biking tours are operated aboard the same boat alongside Islandhopping’s traditional cycling tours, family members and friends with different riding preferences can still travel together. For more information, visit https://www.inselhuepfen.com/en/cycling-tours/mtb-boat.

“Our mountain biking tours bring together some of the best trails and cruising in the Mediterranean,” said Jacob Ketel, Managing Director of Islandhopping. “They’re perfect for riders who are looking to leave the pavement behind, get out into nature and take on more of a challenge. And because we operate mountain biking tours alongside traditional cycling tours, family and friends can join you and ride on roads – you’ll still get to enjoy the majority of your vacation together.”

Mediterranean Destinations

Islandhopping mountain biking tours ride and cruise among the turquoise waters, secluded bays, and picturesque coastlines and islands of the Mediterranean.

Seven tours, each eight days long, include Istria, Kvarner Bay, the National Parks and South Dalmatia in Croatia, the Central Aegean and South Aegean islands in Greece, and the Gulf of Gökova, between Bodrum and the Datҁa Peninsula, in Turkey. Departures are available April through June and September through November.

Along the way, guests will explore medieval cities and historic old towns, waterfront promenades and winding alleys, breathtaking peaks and beautiful beaches, pine forests and idyllic vineyards, and ancient sites and famous waterfalls. Off the bikes, there’s time for local culture, café breaks, swimming, sunbathing and evening walks.

Islandhopping prides itself not only on riding the trails in destinations its tours visit, but on helping to build and maintain them as well, with its staff hosting dedicated work weeks every year.

Biking and Boating

Full-suspension mountain bikes and e-mountain bikes are available for guests, or they can choose to bring their own.

Depending on the tour level, the mountain biking terrain can range from easier gravel roads to natural paths, flow trails and more demanding singletrack with rocks, roots and drops. A basic level of fitness and bike-handling skills is required.

On the water, wooden motor yachts and traditional Turkish gulets provide relaxing accommodations.

Motor yachts have a homey atmosphere, comfortable cabins with private bathrooms and air conditioning, a dining area and sun deck. Gulets are more upscale, with tasteful decoration, spacious cabins with private bathrooms and air conditioning, a dining area, well-stocked bar and outdoor decks.

Cuisine highlights the destinations being visited and includes meals on board and picnic lunches, as well as opportunities to enjoy local restaurants.

Unique Model

Islandhopping has a unique model in which its mountain biking tours are operated aboard the same boat alongside its traditional cycling tours.

This makes them ideal for family members and friends with different riding abilities or interests. Those who don’t want to mountain bike can book a traditional cycling tour on the same boat, so they can still travel together.

Each group rides with its own tour leaders, with mountain bikers taking to trails and cyclists on hybrid bikes staying on paved roads and paths. Throughout rides, the groups rejoin for guided tours and lunches.

There are also usually enough bikes on board to allow family and friends to ride together some days.

Boat Bike Tours and its Islandhopping brand have a new North American office in Connecticut and works with travel advisors. To stay informed of products and special offers, advisors can register at https://www.boatbiketours.com/agency-registration/.
