Kimpton Hotel Palomar South Beach Opens Its Doors

New Boutique Hotel Offers a Refined and Stylish South Beach Escape in the Locally Loved Sunset Harbour Neighborhood

MIAMI (March 5, 2020) – Miami’s glamorous South Beach just got a bit more dazzling with the official opening of Kimpton Hotel Palomar South Beach. Poised on the edge of Sunset Harbour, a popular enclave for Miami’s cool set, the brand-new 96-room boutique hotel offers guests a refined and exciting South Beach experience. Featuring a striking exterior by legendary Miami architect and designer Kobi Karp, and interiors by renowned firm Chapi Chapo Design, the property is an iconic addition to the scene, boasting an eye-catching lobby, stylish guestrooms, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and a two-tier rooftop bar and pool overlooking Biscayne Bay.

“There’s no place quite like South Beach – and accordingly, there’s no place in South Beach quite like Kimpton Hotel Palomar South Beach,” said General Manager Fernando Rivera. “We’ve created this property to transport our guests to another world, from the nautical-inspired lobby to the stylish rooftop boasting expansive views of the city. We are thrilled to officially open our doors and welcome everyone to Hotel Palomar.”

South Beach-Inspired

Taking its cues from the waterfront, the Kimpton Hotel Palomar South Beach experience evokes South Beach’s past, present and future, as well as Miami as a whole. In keeping with the building’s yacht-like architecture and canal-adjacent location, the neighborhood’s rich nautical roots serve as a key source of inspiration for color palettes, interior design and overall ambiance. Particularly notable is the hotel’s lobby, which is meant to resemble the hull of a private luxury yacht tilted on its side providing an exhilarating first-look with its custom-built light installations. The lobby experience is also peppered with art displays, abstracted shapes and large format fabrics meant to echo the ripples of the Atlantic Ocean.

Guest Rooms

Each of the 96 guestrooms welcomes guests with a dreamy ocean-inspired color palette, modern lines and refined textures. The interior design includes warm patterned wood wallcovering and subtle references to Miami’s Art Deco architecture, while building upon the hotel’s nautical elements, with wall hangings that evoke fixtures found on a ship. Many rooms feature private balconies that overlook the glimmering Biscayne Bay. Other rooms include large terraces with comfortable lounge seating for vistas of the Sunset Harbour neighborhood.

High-end bathroom products from Atelier Bloem and plush towels create a cozy vibe, with a custom vanity furnishing, a large round mirror and light fixture. Playful design choices and luxe robes mean that every closet is one worth opening and exploring. In the armoire, each guest will find a yoga mat and ample space for personal storage.

The hotel’s signature Sunset Harbour Balcony Corner King – located at the “point” of the building – is a one of a kind guest room, featuring an 800 sq. ft. terrace. Guests booking this room will enjoy additional amenities like a complimentary pool cabana reservation with a bottle of prosecco, in-room welcome amenity, early check in/check out based on availability and daily turn down service.

South Beach’s Soon-To-Be Hottest (And Most Instagrammable) Rooftop

Up top, guests will discover a private rooftop pool and two-tier 6,000 sq. ft. roof deck. A truly exceptional al fresco hangout, the roof deck expertly balances activity with tranquility. The bar, which is half-sheltered, half-open air, offers a spectacular view of the pool and the Miami skyline. The pool area provides an authentic “see-and-be-seen” environment, with spacious cabanas and a long series of daybeds along the water. The jutting prow where the building comes to its corner point on the roof – serves as the perfect backdrop for an envy-worthy social media moment. At the moment, the bar will not be open but come May, specialty cocktails from Altamarea Group, the renowned New York Hospitality Group, will be flowing.

Locally Immersive Experiences

Kimpton Hotel Palomar South Beach strives to bring in elements of the Sunset Harbour neighborhood and other surrounding neighborhoods to provide guests with a more robust local experience. The hotel has joined forces with Panther Coffee, a locally based specialty coffee company that sources, roasts, and prepares some of the finest coffees in the world to provide complimentary daily coffee in the lobby and offer guests that authentic coffee-fix that locals adore. Panther Coffee will also be offering hotel guests a special tour of their headquarters in nearby Little Haiti neighborhood. During this special activity guests will experience coffee tastings and demonstrations and will witness how Panther Coffee crafts its signature coffee blends and the importance of fair-trade sourcing and overall sustainability.

Osteria Morini

Shortly following the opening of the hotel, the highly acclaimed restaurant Osteria Morini from Altamarea Group and Chef Michael White will debut in May. Located on the corner of Alton Road and right off the lobby of the hotel, the restaurant will feature Northern Italian fare, and will include a varied menu of small plates to share, signature house-made pastas, prime meats, and also highlight the fresh seafood and produce that Florida has to offer. Osteria Morini’s light and breezy space off the canal will be open all day, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, with both indoor and outdoor seating.

Sunset Harbour: Not Your Tourist’s Miami Beach

Nestled in the unique little enclave of Sunset Harbour, Kimpton Hotel Palomar South Beach is well within reach of the South Beach scene yet cocooned from the chaos. From here, guests are free to immerse themselves in all that this beautiful barrier island has to offer. Complimentary transfers to Kimpton Beach Club are available to all guests seeking sun and sand on legendary South Beach. Stroll to Lincoln Road Mall, a mile-long promenade of shops and restaurants.
