Internova Travel Group Highlights 2024 Climate Initiatives

Contributions to verified carbon sequestration projects offset nearly 3,000 metric tons of emissions

NEW YORK (January 29, 2025) – Internova Travel Group, one of the world’s largest travel services companies, continued to demonstrate a strong commitment to combating climate change in 2024 by making significant strides in meeting its annual Environmental, Social and Governance goals.

“We know it’s an ongoing process, but we’re proud of the steps we’ve taken to fight climate change,” said Ka-Wai Siu, Internova’s Vice President, Compliance and ESG. “We strive to provide our clients with travel experiences that take into account sustainability, to ensure that communities thrive and to help preserve the planet’s natural wonders for generations to come. We want to serve as an industry leader in this vital area, creating a ripple effect throughout the travel sector.”

Internova Green Circle, an eco-luxe sustainability initiative launched in 2023, is a key part of the company’s commitment to supporting environmentally friendly practices at home and around the world. Through advocacy, education, partnerships and initiatives, Green Circle aims to encourage travel advisors, customers, suppliers and employees to work together to help reduce the strain on our planet’s finite resources.

In 2024, Internova Green Circle’s accomplishments include:

  • Contributing to verified carbon sequestration projects, helping to offset carbon emissions and support global sustainability efforts,
  • Advocating for sustainability in the travel industry by forging partnerships with like-minded, eco-conscious travel providers, ensuring our offerings promote sustainable practices, and
  • Implementing educational programs for our travel agency brands and advisors, empowering them with the information they need to provide their clients with environmentally responsible travel options.

Internova’s carbon sequestration contributions went to support its partner Sustainable Travel International’s Climate Impact Portfolio of projects across forestry, energy, innovative climate technology and blue/teal carbon. Together, these projects helped save nearly 1 million acres of carbon-rich ecosystems, generated 370 gigawatt hours annually of clean energy, enhanced soil carbon removal in 20,000 acres of crops and restored more than 11,000 acres of peat swamp forest by planting native trees.

As a result, Internova was able to meet its ongoing commitment to ensuring that employee business travel remains carbon-neutral. In 2024, the company’s total contributions offset over 4,600 metric tons of emissions, equal to 11.8 million miles driven by an average gasoline-powered passenger vehicle, or more than 374 million smartphones charged.

Green Circle education and awareness programs include Global Travel Collection’s “Become an Advocate” sustainable knowledge learning module and “Mindful Discovery Partner Series” in collaboration with Journey Mexico and Hilton Hotels; a Climate Action 1% Program for leisure travelers and a Climate Positive Program for corporate and event customers; partnering with Hyatt Hotels on Earth Day programs around the world; and holding the inaugural Global Travel Collection sustainability education trip with Micato Safaris in 2025.

Internova is also a valued contributor to the Delta Green Council and Hyatt Conscious Journey Committee; a corporate member of the Global Sustainable Travel Council and World Travel & Tourism Council; and a Champion Sponsor for Sustainable Travel International.
