The northern coast of the Dominican Republic is a mecca for sports enthusiasts  who love all types of surfing, whether it’s kitesurfing, windsurfing, standup paddle boarding, or wingfoiling. From Sept. 17 to 21, 2025, the town of Cabarete will host the Master of the Ocean event, only a few steps from Viva Tangerine by Wyndham. This championship tests athletes from all over the world as they take on rolling waves and unpredictable winds. Guests can witness these incredible acrobatics and try it out for themselves with the resort’s introductory classes. Whether guests are discovering a new passion or developing an already budding talent, Viva Resorts’ instructors will tailor the classes to their skill level.      

 

Samaná: A Catamaran Ride Through Paradise

Known for its long stretches of pristine beaches, the Samaná peninsula in the Dominican Republic is the definition of paradise. One of the best ways to explore this widely undiscovered locale is by catamaran. The exclusive, adults-only Viva V Samaná by Wyndham ensures catamarans are always available on-site. Guests can set sail along the crystal-clear waters, enjoying moments of serenity as they take in the surrounding landscape. Playa Dorada: Golf is Just a Swing Away

Viva Heavens by Wyndham overlooks the famous Playa Dorada Golf Course in the Dominican Republic. Bayahibe: Oceanman®, a Race for Adventure

Oceanman®, the only international circuit of amateur open water swimming competitions in Bayahibe, is taking place in October 2025. With a community of more than 40,000 enthusiasts and 30 events across 25 countries, Oceanman® celebrates tenacity, motivation, and healthy living. From Oct. 10 to 12, 2025, 600 participants will take on a swimming challenge directly from the shores of Viva Dominicus Palace by Wyndham. The event includes 2K, 5K, and 10K races, plus relays and a children’s race, allowing participants of all ages to test themselves in crystal-clear waters while appreciating nature’s beauty.

 

The Caribbean From A New Perspective: Dive Right In

Viva Resorts offer a variety of memorable diving experiences, so guests can uncover the underwater world of the Caribbean. In Grand Bahama, boats sail directly from Viva Fortuna Beach to 34 premier dive sites, including Fortuna, Lucayan, and Taino Reefs. With access to 34 premier dive sites across Grand Bahama, guests can explore vibrant marine ecosystems and even encounter sharks in their natural habitat.

 

From May 17th to 24th, adventure seekers can take part in an exclusive Dive Week, featuring 10 incredible dives, including a heart-pounding Shark Dive. Beyond the water, guests can unwind with resort activities, gourmet dining, and live entertainment or immerse themselves in local culture with experiences like the Fish Fry and a tour of Lucayan National Park.

 

Guests residing on Viva Dominicus Beach and Viva Dominicus Palace in the Dominican Republic can scuba-dive along the shallow waters near Bayahibe, allowing for an eye-opening exploration of vibrant coral reefs and shipwrecks. Viva Maya and Viva Azteca in Mexico offer the PADI scuba certification, so guests can take their scuba diving skills to the next level. The diving center leads to Puerto Aventuras, 20 minutes from the resorts, and takes divers to the island of Cozumel and nearby cenotes.
