Barceló Puerto Vallarta and Occidental Nuevo Vallarta Attain Green Globe Certification

For over two decades, the prestigious Green Globe certification has provided countless businesses with certification that assures the highest standard for sustainability worldwide

MIAMI (Feb. 21, 2019) – The all-suite, all-inclusive Barceló Puerto Vallarta and the all-inclusive Occidental Nuevo Vallarta have been awarded the Green Globe certification, which promotes the implementation of sustainability standards in the operation and management of resort destinations and communities.

The Green Globe certification represents the highest standard for sustainability worldwide. The certification evaluates the sustainable practices carried out by several travel and tourism businesses that aim to improve people’s quality of life and productivity. These practices include: the preservation of ecological balance, the protection of the environment, as well as the responsible use of resources without compromising the quality of life of future generations.

“Once again, Barceló Puerto Vallarta and Occidental Nuevo Vallarta are setting the standard when it comes to implementing eco-conscious practices in their day-to-day operations,” said Juan Carlos Salmon, Director of Sales at Barceló Puerto Vallarta and Occidental Nuevo Vallarta. “This important recognition is made possible by the diligent and enthusiastic work from the teams at both hotels.

The Green Globe certification was attained in a great way thanks to the properties’ Sustainability Management Program, which is coordinated by a dedicated “Green Team” (sustainability policy and legislation; energy and water conservation; air, noise and waste management; as well as constant communication with the community). Over the course of six months, the team carried out educational workshops at the hotels, covering environmental topics such as energy conservation techniques, carbon and food footprint, the anti-straw movement, among many others.

In addition to the Green Globe certification, the resorts have recently been awarded various prestigious certifications, including Cristal (Food, Room, Pool, Safety), Great Place To Work,  TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence award, and specifically the Barceló Puerto Vallarta has been awarded the AAA Four-Diamond for the 11th consecutive year.
