Passenger Trips Also Increased More Than Five Percent
ARLINGTON, Va. – November 16, 2017 – Airlines Reporting Corp. (ARC) reported today that the average U.S. roundtrip ticket price* for October 2017 was $484, up from $467 in September. Average October 2017 ticket prices are up .7 percent compared to October 2016.
The consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold by U.S.-based travel agencies increased 7 percent in October as compared to October 2016, totaling $7.4 billion vs. $6.9 billion. The number of passenger trips* settled by ARC for U.S. travel agencies also increased 5.2 percent to 22,417,336 compared to 21,307,750 in October 2016.
Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD)** sales in October 2017 comprised almost $5.8 million, an 8.5 percent increase over October 2016. EMD transactions decreased 7.2 percent to 99,740 in October 2017 vs. 107,447 in 2016.
