Allianz Partners Announces Winners of Its Annual ScholarTrips Program

Winning Entries Received Nearly $40,000 in Total Prizes to Help Students Travel the World

RICHMOND, VA, February 4, 2019 — Allianz Partners, a leading travel insurance and assistance company, has announced the winners of its 2018 annual ScholarTrips essay and video contest.  More than 40 students received $37,500 in prizes in this year’s contest, bringing total prizes awarded by the program since its inception to more than $215,000.

The ScholarTrips program recognizes college and high school students passionate about exploring the world and has provided funding to contest winners since 2004.  The Scholartrips prizes are intended to help the winners travel to new places and experience new cultures.

The contest required students to submit a video or essay that answers the question: If you could take any TV or movie character with you on your dream trip abroad (animated, animal or human), who would you take and why? This year, the company received more than 1,000 entries.

Six first place winners received $2,500 each, ten second place winners received $1,000 each and 25 third place winners received $500 each.  Every video or essay was scored based on its passion, impact and creativity.   Examples of outstanding entries include first place-winning videos from Caitlin Checkett titled “A Warmer Ending,” “Mamma Mia!” by Peyton Wagner, and Casie McManus’ “Dancing with Dory.” A full list of winners can be found on the ScholarTrips website.

“Inspiring and supporting young people to travel abroad expands their horizons with diverse world cultures and ways of thinking,” said Joe Mason, Chief Marketing Officer, Allianz Partners. “ScholarTrips serves to change people’s lives through travel, and we’re proud that we’ve been able to help hundreds of students realize their dream of international travel.”
