Nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Andes Mountains, Chile is home to diverse landscapes, exciting outdoor adventures, expansive vineyards, and unique ancestral traditions. Stretching along South America’s western coast, Chile is a tri-continental nation with additional territories in Antarctica and Oceania, such as Easter Island, one of six UNESCO World Heritage Sites located in the country. Travelers can stargaze at the Atacama Desert, enjoy local ski resorts near the Andes, trek through the Patagonia, or explore the modern city of Santiago, the capital, making Chile a land of endless possibilities.
Augusto Valverde, producer of Global Child and former NBC Host and Romina Denecken, Miss Earth Chile begin their adventure in the magnificent Patagonia region, located in the southern tip of South America. “Its vast area holds about half of the landmass of Chile, with only 5% of the population living there. This heaven for nature lovers is the extraordinary place called Torres del Paine National Park.” Says Augusto, who charms the audience with his cinematic storytelling and humor.
During this episode, we learn about “quincho” or guaco barbecue, the best way to try typical Patagonian cuisine, which includesempanadas, wine and lamb. In Santiago Chile, where the economy is ranked the best in South America, we explore must-stopped visits such as the Mercado Central, a mecca for seafood and Peluqueria Francesa (which translates to “French Barber”), a landmark of over 100 years that is not only a barber shop, but also a museum and restaurant. Continue watching to explore the Atacama Desert, the driest non-polar desert in the world and one of the best places on Earth for Astro tourism.

About Chile
Chile is a country rich in diversity and contrast. It possesses a special geography that distinguishes it from other world destinations. One of its most unique features is having territory in three world regions: South America, Oceania, and Antarctica. Its continental length from north to south reaches over 4,300 kilometers in a narrow strip of land between the rugged Andes Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. Such a great expanse gives way to an array of privileged landscapes, beginning with the planet’s most arid desert, transitioning through a fertile central valley, down through a land of lakes and volcanoes and ending in the glaciers, fjords, and granite mountains of wild Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego – the farthest reaches of the continent. Reasons to discover Chile include: surprising natural wonders such as the Atacama, the driest desert in the world with more than 200 native flowers; culture and heritage with six UNESCO world heritage sites and firsthand experience with the Mapuche Culture; world-class sports and adventures – ski the Andes, surf in Pichilemu or go scuba diving in Easter Island; flavors and wine from the end of the world; astronomical tourism with the clearest skies in the Southern Hemisphere; vibrant city life in Santiago; health and wellness with 270+ thermal springs, wine therapy and treatments using local products such as olives or avocado; among many others.
