This month we will start our tour of the Dreams Resorts located in the Dominican Republic. There are 6 of them and we will start with the first three, the Dreams Dominicus La Romana, the Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana, and the Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa.
The Dominican Republic is one of the more popular vacation destinations and has some of the best beaches in the Caribbean. It is easily reached from just about anywhere in the United States.
The first resort we will look at is located in the La Romana area. This area is one of the few Dominican destinations located on the Caribbean sea. Most of the other resorts are located on the Atlantic side of the island. The resort is the Dreams Dominicus La Romana. The resort is a great base to explore this region of the Dominican Republic and is a AAA 4 Diamond Resort. It is situated about 45 minutes from the Punta Cana Airport. The area does have its own airport, but it is much smaller than the Punta Cana airport. The beaches here are very nice and the water is a little calmer than the Atlantic side of the Island.
Dining offers a wide variety of selections starting with an International Buffet, a Grill, a pizzeria, coffee Bar, and 4 A La Carte Restaurants. The A La Carte choices are French, Italian, Pan Asian, and a Grilled Item option. As far as drinks they have a Swim-up bar, a Lobby Bar, a Theater Bar, a Music Lounge Bar, and a Preferred Club Bar. Don’t forget the 24 Hr. room service.
Activities include, 4 pools, a beautiful beach, snorkeling, beach and pool volleyball, all non-motorized watersports such as kayaks, paddle boarding, sailing, and wind surfing. There is a PADI certified dive center on the property. On land there is Tennis, lawn chess, theme nights and beach parties, Dance and Spanish lessons, and nightly entertainment for the whole family. They have a great kid’s club for kids 3-13 and a teen club for teens 14-17 with organized activities both indoor and outdoor as well as a place for teens to just hang out. This resort is great for families that want to see another part of the Dominican other than the Punta Cana area and experience the Caribbean side of the Island at a reasonable price.
The next Dreams resort we will look at is the beautiful Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana. This resort sits on a beautiful beach in the Punta Cana area 40 minutes from the Punta Cana airport. This resort is the first and only family resort on Macao Beach. This resort is a AAA 4 Diamond resort. Macao and the Punta Cana area are located on the Atlantic side of the island with some of the most beautiful beaches.
Accommodations at this resort contain Jr. Suites and Suites as well as the Preferred Club, Dreams concierge level, rooms and Suites. They start with the Jr. Suite Tropical View and the Jr. Suite Pool View and move to the Jr. Suite Partial Ocean View and then end with the Jr. Suite Ocean View. All Jr. Suites come with a King bed or 2 Double Beds. We now move to the Preferred Club Jr. Suites and Suites. They start with the Preferred Club Tropical View Jr. Suite, the Preferred Club Partial Ocean View Jr. Suite, the Preferred Club Ocean View Jr. Suite, the Preferred Club Swim-out Jr. Suites. We continue with the Suites starting with the Preferred Club Ocean View Master Suite, The Preferred Club Ocean Front Master Suite, the Preferred Club Roof Top Master Suite and the preferred Club Ocean Front Swim-out Master Suite. All Master Suites are 1 bedroom and 1,200 Sq. Ft. We now look at the Preferred Club Presidential Suites. These Suites are all 1,800 Sq. Ft. First, we have the Preferred Club Presidential Roof Top Suite and then the preferred Club Presidential Ocean Front Swim-Out Suite. All Master and Presidential have King Beds and a pull out sofa. All Accommodations come with upgraded amenities, free WIFI, and 24 Hr. Room Service.
Activities at this resort include both land and water. First there are the 4 pools including one with water slides, the fantastic beach, snorkeling, all non-motorized water sports such as sailing, Kayaks, and Wind Surfing. On land there is Tennis, Zip Lining, trampoline and tight rope, and batting cages. Baseball is the Dominican Republic’s national sport. There are theme nights and dancing and Spanish classes as well as the fantastic off-site tours, both land and sea. These are at an extra cost. There is a fantastic Spa, and this is a great Destination wedding resort. We have done a ton of destination Weddings at this resort and others in the Dominican Republic. At the resort there is a wonderful Kids Club for kids 3-12 and a fantastic Teen Club for teens 13-17 with supervised activities and a cool place for teens to just hang out.
This resort is one of the best family all-inclusive resorts in the Dominican Republic. It is on a fantastic beach and provides a great vacation experience for the whole family.
The last resort we will look at this month is the Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa. This resort sits on a remote beach next to the Breathless resort and adults staying at the Dreams Onyx have exchange privileges with the Breathless Resort. This resort is also a AAA 4 Diamond Resort. Because of its accommodations, this resort is great for larger families.
The accommodations at this resort consist of all Jr. Suites and Suites. They start with the Jr. Suite Tropical View wit 1 king or 2 double beds, the Premium Jr. Suite Tropical View with 1 King or 2 Queen Beds, Premium Jr. Suite Pool View with 1 King or 2 Queen Beds, the Jr. Suite Swim-up with 1 King bed or 2 Double beds, the Jr. Suite Partial Ocean View with 1 king or 2 Double Beds, the 1,800 Sq. Ft 2 Bedroom Family Suite wit 1 King Bed and 2 Double Beds. Now we move to the Preferred Club accommodations, Dreams Concierge level. We start with the Preferred Club Jr. Suite Pool View with King Bed or 2 Double Beds, the Preferred Club Jr. Suite Swim-up with King Bed or 2 Double Beds, the Preferred Club Jr. Suite partial Ocean View with King Bed or 2 Double Beds, Preferred Club Ocean View with King Bed, this accommodation is Adults Only, Preferred Club Jr. Suite with Private Pool with King Bed, Adults Only, the 1,149 Sq. Ft. Ocean Front Master Suite with King Bed, Adults Only, and finally the 1,700 Sq. Ft. Ocean Front Presidential Suite with King Bed and pull-out Sofa. All accommodations come with upgraded amenities, Free WIFI, and 24 hr. Room Service.
Dining offers a number of selections including an International Buffet, a Grill, a Coffee Shop, a Burger Bar, an Ice Cream Parlor, and 6 A La Carte Restaurants that include a Steakhouse, Italian, Pan Asian, Mexican, French, Mediterranean. Don’t forget the 24 hr. Room Service. Bars serve top shelf alcohol and include a Lobby Bar, 3 Swim-up Bars, a Beach Bar, a Pre-Dinner Bar, a Sports Bar, a Theater Bar, and a Pool bar. Don’t forget that adults staying at the Dreams Resort have exchange privileges with the Breathless Resort next door including their Dining options and bars.
Activities abound at this resort and include both Water and Land activities. I the Water there is a great beach, 6 pools including a lazy river and a water park, snorkeling, all non-motorized water sports like sailing, kayaks, wind surfing, beach and pool volleyball, Scuba diving is close but at an additional cost. On land there is Tennis, Paddle ball, volleyball, and golf nearby at an additional cost, daily activities, Theme parties, nightly entertainment, and Spanish and Dance classes.
This resort is great for families, even large families, and adults that really want an active atmosphere at a reasonable cost.
