CALABASAS, CA – (November 25, 2019) – AmaWaterways today proudly announced that it was selected to receive the 2019 Business of the Year Award from the city of Calabasas. President, Co-founder and Co-owner, Rudi Schreiner was on hand at the November 7th State of the City Address to receive the award from Calabasas Mayor David J. Shapiro. The evening event held at the Calabasas High School Performing Arts Education Center was attended by councilmembers, residents and notable figures from the local business community.
“We’re incredibly honored to have AmaWaterways recognized by the Calabasas community. Not only is our international headquarters, with over 200 people, located here but as co-founders, Kristin Karst and I, are also heavily engaged with the local business community and make nearby Westlake Village our home,” said Schreiner. “Since starting AmaWaterways in 2002, residents of Calabasas and the surrounding communities have become some of our most loyal river cruise guests. Their support along with travel advisors in the area have helped us grow to the 24-fleet river cruise company that we are today.”
This past September, Schreiner and Karst were also honored to have been the recipients of the prestigious Travel Vanguard Award which AFAR magazine bestows to recognize leaders who not only help shape the future of travel but harness the power of travel to make the world a better place for future generations.
With the dynamic duo of Schreiner and Karst at the helm, AmaWaterways has earned a reputation for transforming the river cruise industry by introducing innovative ship design, creating enriching and immersive shore excursions, and providing award-winning cuisine, fine locally sourced wine and attentive, personalized guest service. They were the first to introduce active hiking and biking excursions to the rivers and have recently pioneered a comprehensive wellness program onboard their fleet. This year marked a banner year for AmaWaterways with the introduction of three new ships to its award-winning fleet, including the revolutionary AmaMagna, which is twice the width of traditional river cruise ships and has redefined luxury river cruising.
