With the global pandemic continuing to delay people’s international travel plans, G Adventures (whose US headquarters is in Boston) is branching out from its global tour offering to encourage people to explore their own backyard and support locally-owned businesses at the same time.
The new ‘One Day in Boston: Sunrise to Sunset’ local experience has been carefully designed to offer a small, physically-distanced group of 16 people a unique day out in Boston that also gives back to the local community, similar to the style of tours G Adventures offers in 100 countries around the world.
The day tour includes an early morning outdoor yoga session on the Common, a guided walk along the Black Heritage Trail, a bike tour into Cambridge, a delicious sampling of snacks as well as a history lesson in Chinatown and even a sunset sail on a classic schooner.
Steve Lima, director of marketing, US, says the small group operator wants to give people the opportunity to find adventure in their own backyard and to remind them how much they love the feeling of discovery while they wait for international borders to reopen.
“These new local experiences give us the chance to see our own city in a new light, and to recapture the feeling of curiosity that comes with traveling. Boston is a city with so much to discover, even for life-long Bostonians, and we’re especially happy to be able to show off what we do best in our own neighborhood – give back through travel. Many of the businesses that we’ll visit on this tour have also suffered as a result of this pandemic, so it’s the perfect time to support our own while we wait patiently to be able to use our passports again,” says Lima.
The One Day in Boston: Sunrise to Sunset tour is priced from $259pp for a full-day guided day tour, starting at 7:30am. It runs on Saturday September 26 and Saturday October 3, 2020.
Each tour includes a local chief experience officer (CEO), and starts bright and early with an hour-long yoga session, followed by a guided walking tour, a three-hour food and history tour through Chinatown and finally a sunset sail, with many other stops and discoveries along the way.
New Local Experiences are currently available in Boston and Toronto. For more information, or to book, please visit www.gadventures.com or call 1-888-800-4100.
