WOW Air Closure: Financial Default Travel Insurance Can Cover Travelers

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. March 28, 2019 – The sudden closure of Icelandic budget carrier Wow Air has left thousands of travelers stranded and looking to travel insurance to recoup costs. Fortunately, travelers with insurance policies that include cancellation coverage for the financial default of a common carrier may be covered by their policy, as long as specific conditions are met.

If You Do Have Travel Insurance

 

Insured travelers with upcoming trips may be reimbursed for cancelled flights costs resulting from the airline closure if their policy includes Trip Cancellation coverage for Financial Default. In order to qualify for this time-sensitive benefit, policies must meet the following requirements:

 

• Travelers must have purchased a policy within 10-21 days of their initial trip deposit

 

• Coverage is not available during the benefit’s wait period, typically the first 10-14 days after a policy is purchased

Unfortunately, uninsured travelers with upcoming flights on WOW Air can no longer purchase a policy with coverage for this specific event.
