World’s Best Tourism Films of the Year Celebrated in Guimarães

Major global tourism brands honored at the World Tourism Film Awards for this year’s most impactful videos.

 

Guimarães, Portugal – December 5, 2025 — The 37th World Tourism Film Awards brought the global spotlight to Guimarães,  Portugal, where 32 outstanding tourism videos from 17 countries were celebrated as the World’s Best Tourism Videos of the Year.  Hosted at the historic Teatro Jordão, the ceremony marked the grand finale of the CIFFT Circuit, the world’s leading competition  for tourism audiovisual productions. 

 

Winners were selected according to the awards received at nine international festivals during the year and their position in the  CIFFT Rankings. The gala honored the World’s Best Tourism Films of the Year, from 1st to 5th place, across five categories — City  Promotion, Region Promotion, Country Promotion, Tourism Products, and Tourism Services — and also presented two special  distinctions: the Tourism Press Award and the GreenWorking Awards

 

Top Winners 

Among the World’s Best Tourism Films of the Year, Switzerland Tourism took first place in Country Promotion for the third  consecutive year, this time with Falling for Autumn, a campaign featuring Roger Federer and Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen. In  Region Promotion, the Government of La Guajira (Colombia) earned first place with Discover La Guajira. The Municipality of  Conil (Spain) secured first place in City Promotion with Conil, where land and sea embrace

 

Turismo de Portugal received first place in Tourism Products with Portugal’s Unwritten Recipe. In Tourism Services, first place  was shared by Nuri Factory Tour (Portugal) for NURI – The Secret of Nuri and Madrid Destino (Spain) for Centro Danza Matadero

 

Joining the list of 2025’s most impactful tourism videos were the Slovenian Tourist Board (Slovenia), Visit Sweden(Sweden), the  National Tourism Organisation of Montenegro (Montenegro), Zell am See-Kaprun Tourismus GmbH and SalzburgerLand  Tourismus (Austria), Zagreb Tourist Board (Croatia), Düsseldorf Tourismus GmbH (Germany), the Tourism Association of  Sarajevo Canton(Bosnia and Herzegovina), Mancomunidad de Municipios del Campo de Gibraltar (Spain), Turismo Rías Baixas (Spain), Sydsjælland & Møn (Denmark), Depot History Center (Poland), Iberostar Beachfront Resorts (Spain), Hilton Kyoto 

(Japan), and Swiss International Air Lines (Switzerland). 

 

Portugal achieved notable visibility with multiple recognitions, including three awards for Turismo de Portugal, as well as  distinctions for the municipalities of Manteigas, Fundão, and Oleiros, CIM Região Beiras e Serra da Estrela, and PORTUGALNTN. 

 

These results reinforce the World Tourism Film Awards as a global platform that recognizes the most influential brands and  institutions in the tourism industry. 

 

Special Recognitions 

The Tourism Press Award went to Portugal’s Unwritten Recipe by Turismo de Portugal, acknowledging its narrative strength and  editorial impact.

 

Sustainability was highlighted through the GreenWorking Awards, an initiative of CIFFT and the Spanish agency Normmal, with  the participation of UN Tourism. French production company Zéké Film received both the Message Award and the Production  Award, while Mashpi Lodge (Ecuador) earned the Global Award for the year’s most impactful sustainable production. 

 

Alexander V. Kammel, Director of CIFFT, said, These productions stand among the most effective examples of audiovisual  tourism promotion today. Hosting the World Tourism Film Awards in Guimarães and in the North of Portugal was particularly  meaningful, not only for the talent and professionalism awarded, but also for the exemplary way the destination welcomed the  event. The success of this edition confirms the vitality of the sector and reinforces the decisive role of creativity and innovation in  tourism.” 

 

Organized by the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT) and the Municipality of Guimarães, with support  from Tourism Porto & North of Portugal, the World Tourism Film Awards are held in partnership with UN Tourism and several  leading international organizations. 

 

The opportunity to host the 2025 edition of the World Tourism Film Awards is the best way to begin the path we advocate to  strengthen the tourist appeal of our territory and to extend the stay of those who visit us, generating more life in the city and  greater dynamism in our local economy — from traditional commerce to restaurants, from hospitality to other services”, said  Ricardo Araújo, Mayor of Guimarães.  

 

Luís Pedro Martins, president of Tourism Porto & North of Portugal, underlined that The success of the event proves that the  choice of Porto and the North, and specifically the city of Guimarães, was the most accurate decision for hosting the World  Tourism Film Awards, thus helping to boost the Porto and North Region internationally.” 

 

As the final event of the CIFFT Circuit, the awards reflect a rigorous evaluation of more than 4,000 videos each year, selected  through festivals in France, the United States, Spain, Portugal, Japan, Greece, Croatia, and Serbia. Entries for the CIFFT Circuit  2026 are already open.
