Windstar Cruises Voted Best Boutique Cruise Line by USA TODAY 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards

Small Ship Cruise Line Also Recognized as a Top Choice for Millennials, Dining, and Adventure

Seattle, WA, December 27, 2017 – Windstar Cruises is thrilled to be named the #1 Boutique Cruise Line in the world by the USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for the second year in a row.

Twenty boutique cruise lines were nominated by a panel of experts, which included a combination of editors from USA Today and 10Best.com, cruise journalists, and top cruise industry media sources. Four weeks of digital voting by the public ensued, with the contest closing earlier this week before the winners were revealed on Friday, Dec. 22, 2017.

In addition to being named the Best Boutique Cruise Line again, Windstar also placed in the top five as a Best Cruise Line for Millennials, a new category this year, and in the top ten as a Best Cruise Ship for Dining (the 212-passenger, all-suite Star Pride specifically), Best Ocean Cruise Line, and Best Adventure Cruise Line.

“The core of 10Best’s uniqueness is its team of local travel experts: a well-traveled and well-educated group who are not only experts in their fields but also discriminating in their tastes,” explained Windstar President John Delaney. “Windstar is all about bringing our guests closer to the destination and helping them create lifelong memories by immersing them in local experiences, so it makes sense that 10Best’s readers would value our style of cruising. We are honored to be recognized as their top choice for boutique cruise travel.”

Guests who sail with Windstar can expect an experience quite different from other luxury, boutique, and expedition cruise lines, including Windstar’s ability to get travelers as close as possible to authentic and immersive experiences in each and every destination, with one-of-a-kind adventures as well as unparalleled onboard service and intimate yet luxurious settings found on all of their six vessels.

Windstar’s 2018 sailings feature far-flung ports and interesting itineraries designed by a hands-on staff of travel and cruise experts including nearly 150 new ports of call. 2018 includes a return to the expansive waterways of Alaska (following a 20-year hiatus from the region) and even more adventure with the addition of a newly-announced Windstar Signature Expeditions program debuting on Alaska itineraries. Also in store are first-time-ever Windstar cruises to Canada and New England; new experiences in Asia; 20 new itineraries across Europe; and care-free sailing in the tropics of the Caribbean, Central America, and French Polynesia. All journeys offer personalized service with a 1.5-to-1 guest-to-crew ratio; exceptional culinary experiences as the Official Cruise Line of the James Beard Foundation; and elegant ships that turn heads in every harbor.
