Tripchix Win Coveted Gold Magellan Award

TripChix, a consumer-facing brand developed by Travel Planners International, has won Travel Weekly’s Gold Magellan Award for their Travel Channel-inspired video, TripChix Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady.

In partnership with Virgin Voyages, TripChix, Elisabeth McGuire and Amelia Rodriguez, were sponsored and brought on board to film a complete experiential review of the Virgin Voyages product. They showcase everything consumers can expect to experience on their next cruise.

“Congratulations to TripChix on their [Gold] Magellan Award! We absolutely loved hosting them and our other First Mates on our Lady Ships, as coming aboard is undoubtedly the best way to immerse yourself in the ships’ atmospheres and understand what makes this experience so distinct and amazing. Our vessels were also recognized by Travel Weekly for their cabin and restaurant design, welcoming culture, and exclusively adult positioning. We look forward to a big year in 2023 and welcoming more advisors onboard to set sail the Virgin way,” said John Diorio, Vice President, North American Sales & Support.

Developed initially as ShipTalks in 2017 and then reimagined and rebranded in 2020, the TripChix brand focuses on bringing awareness of the travel industry to everyday consumers. It is not branded to Travel Planners International but wholly branded to the company that sponsors TripChix. Whether as a TPI advisor, an independent advisor outside TPI, or a general consumer, anyone can find and share TripChix videos through the TripChix Instagram and YouTube channels. The call-to-action is always “Contact Your Travel Advisor.”

“In 2020, it was important that all advisors and consumers be aware the travel industry was still here. We wanted to bring light to our amazing industry and the brands working so hard to keep our consumers traveling. It was never about TPI, but rather, coming together, as an industry, to make sure we keep going,” said Elisabeth McGuire, Marketing & Events Manager, Travel Planners International.

“Gold and silver Magellans are given to honor the very best examples of design and promotion that balance the exact right words, materials, shapes, colors, and technology to create an impression that moves and inspires travelers… The Magellan Awards honor the best in travel and salute the outstanding travel professionals behind it all, from design to marketing to services,” said Arnie Weissmann, Executive Vice President and Editor in Chief, Travel Weekly.

Travel Planners International is a Host Agency founded over 35 years ago that partners with hard-charging, passionate, and high-energy advisors because, like TPI, those advisors are obsessed with bringing the world closer through travel. Travel Planners International is ranked 33rd on Travel Weekly’s 2022 Power List, their annual ranking of the largest, most successful travel industry retailers.
