When you’re in the industry of travel, one of the best things to look forward to is the growth of the industry. Technology in 2020 will even be more massive and advanced compared to the previous years, as it will focus on innovation through state-of-the-art technology. Be updated with the technology trends this year with these 6 innovations:
E-Documentation
With the advanced integration of technology, applying for passports or visas can be processed online without the need of having to wait a long time for the paperwork. Plus, everything is efficient as it won’t cost you your time and
energy.
To improve safety precautions in airports, biometric technology has been made more prevalent in countries such as the US, Australia, China, and Europe. Biometric Technology uses fingerprint, iris scan, facial recognition, and even body temperature scan to increase in security and efficiency when entering from different countries.
Gone are the days were passengers have to line up for checking in their flights or having their boarding passes printed. Most international airports now have made efficient ways to fasten the process of traveling by allowing passengers to use their phone or laptop to board. Furthermore, most airlines have advanced applications that allows passengers to track their flights and even upgrade their seats or baggage with just a click on their phones.
Have you noticed the Geofilters of places on Snapchat? Or even the face filters on Instagram Stories? They are all under Augmented Reality which enhances experiences by adding a digital version, such as images and graphics to an already existing reality. Augmented Reality will continuously improve in 2020 with new inventions in travel such as digital keys in hotel rooms, and even digital augmented information for tourist destinations. So when travellers visit, they can easily view information by just pointing their phone camera to the historic landmark.
If Augmented Reality already enhances the existing reality, Virtual Reality is an artificial recreation of the real life situation. Typically, Virtual Reality can be experienced by wearing a head mount. Examples of this modern technology is: a 360-degree image of a hotel or hotel room or a virtual roller-coaster experience of a theme park, even if the traveller hasn’t been there in real life yet.
Yes robots aren’t just being used in the field of science! Nowadays, Artificial Intelligence are slowly becoming popular in the travel industry because they are used to boost efficiency and reduce man power. Examples here are Robot Concierges in hotels, Robot assistants in airports, and even chatbots on social media and websites.
The possibilities of travel technology in 2020 are endless! What are you looking forward to in 2020?
