Travel Agencies Sold Nearly $8 Billion Worth of Air Tickets in September
ARLINGTON, Va. – Oct. 21, 2019 – Airlines Reporting Corp. (ARC) announced today that the consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold in September 2019 by U.S.-based travel agencies increased 3.7% compared to September 2018, totaling $7.8 billion vs. $7.5 billion.* The average U.S. round-trip ticket price in September 2019 decreased to $496 from $498 compared to September 2018.
The total number of passenger trips settled by ARC for U.S. travel agencies in September 2019 increased by 3.7% to 24,465,027 from 23,599,840 compared to the same period last year. U.S. domestic trips increased 4% while international passenger trips grew 3%.
Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD)** sales in September 2019 totaled $6.7 million, a 23% increase compared to the same period in 2018. EMD transaction volume increased 16% in September 2019 compared to September 2018.
