The Travel Institute Modernizes its Digital Credentials and Advisor Directory

Enhanced framework is ‘a win for alumni, consumers, and the industry’

FRAMINGHAM, MA June 16, 2026 — The Travel Institute, a non-profit organization and the global leader in travel industry education, has launched a major modernization for its Digital Credentials and related Certified Travel Agent Directory, available immediately and at no charge to all active, certified graduates.

The Travel Institute’s proprietary digital credentials enable certified graduates to establish credibility and trust with consumers, showcasing third-party verification of their expertise both one-on-one with colleagues and clients as well as directly with consumers through a public directory. Initially launched in 2019, these capabilities were a well-received industry advancement1 as studies indicate consumers prefer educated travel agents2, yet more than 60% lacked formal certification3 given no industry-wide mandates for professional education.

“Certification through The Travel Institute has always represented a commitment to learning, professionalism, and long-term growth,” reflected Taylor Ahlsmith Ruecking, president of The Travel Institute. “This next evolution is about making advisor value even more evident. Our certified graduates have invested in their profession, and our enhanced tools help them tell their story more clearly, whether they are connecting with clients, building their online presence, or standing out in a crowded marketplace,” Ruecking continued, emphasizing advisors certified through The Travel Institute consistently earn more and report higher career satisfaction.4

Available to Certified Travel Associate, CTA®; Certified Travel Counselor, CTC®; and Certified Travel Industry Executive, CTIE®; graduates through a simple, quick update process, the enhancements include four key areas:

  • Modernized Digital Credential Profiles: New branding and seamless mobile device adaptation highlight the redesign. In addition, agent public-facing pages now feature enhanced profile editing tools and streamlined navigation, transforming an advisor’s comprehensive portfolio and brand into a dynamic and searchable powerhouse.

  • Enhanced Consumer-facing Directory Experience: Certified graduates who opt in to connect with potential clients are findable by expanded search criteria including location, specialized expertise, language, contact information and other advisor-dictated details for an improved consumer experience.

  • Social Sharing & Advanced SEO Tools: Profile data has been optimized to cut through online noise and boost advisor visibility. In addition, new marketing tools include branded graphics, custom QR codes, and social media templates to easily display credentials on LinkedIn, Facebook, and beyond.

  • Verified Status & CEU Integration: To participate in the public-facing directory and maintain active certification status, certified graduates demonstrate continued learning by earning a minimum of 10 Continuing Education Units, or CEUs, annually. CEUs are available through The Travel Institute as well as through numerous approved travel program partners.

The value of the enhancements, soft-launched in early June, are clear. “What I especially love is the ability to directly extend displaying credentials to platforms such as LinkedIn with automated, branded graphics,” enthused Stacey Cabell, CTIE, industry thought leader, founder of Starstuff Travel, and newcomer to The Travel Institute’s education development team. “As a former agency owner, I can tell you, we spend so much time talking about the importance of professionalism, continued education, and building trust online. These enhancements increase advisor ability to highlight their expertise and credibility to both clients and industry peers.”

According to Ruecking, “This is about more than adding a badge to a profile. It’s about helping advisors turn their education into a stronger professional presence, greater consumer trust, and new opportunities to grow their business. That’s a win for our alumni, consumers, and the industry.”

The Travel Institute also recently launched the 11th Edition of its CTA flagship program, which continuously evolves in response to marketplace demands and trends, expert input, best practices, and user feedback. Current non-certified travel agents are encouraged to take advantage of The Travel Institute’s upcoming annual scholarship event, Promote Your Professionalism, which takes place each July.
