South Sea Cruises Triumphs at 2018 Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards

South Sea Cruises is delighted to announce that it scooped up two awards at the 2018 ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards on Saturday, which celebrated ‘Tourism Benefiting all Fijians’.

The awards, which were held at a black and gold-themed gala dinner at the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa in Denarau, were attended by industry professionals and Fiji’s Prime Minister the Hon. Frank Bainimarama.

South Sea Cruises was among more than 200 entrants and 70 finalists vying for awards across 13 categories on Saturday night.

The company took out the title for Best Tour and Transport Operator for its South Sea Cruises brand, the second time it has won the award in three years. CEO Brad Rutherford attributed the repeat success to the professionalism of his staff and the high levels of investment into the brand over the past year
and a half.

“This accolade is once again a recognition of the hard work of our professional team of 300-plus staff who do an amazing job day in and day out right across the business to deliver the most efficient, safe and modern transport services and truly memorable day cruise experiences throughout the Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands,” he said.

“There’s no doubt the significant level of investment and new equipment introduced by South Sea Cruises over the past 18 months has contributed to winning this award as well.”

The company was also awarded Best Destination Marketing for Malamala Beach Club, the world’s first island beach club, which celebrated its first birthday in August.

“Malamala Beach Club’s award for Best Destination Marketing is a suitable reflection of the tremendous amount of work that’s gone into establishing and building the Malamala Beach Club brand and product,” Mr Rutherford said.

“For a product that’s only 18 months old to win an award such as Destination Marketing is a truly outstanding achievement, and further signals what a great brand and product Malamala Beach Club is and how well it has been both delivered and received domestically and internationally by consumers, media and the trade alike.”

South Sea Cruises was also named as a finalist in the following categories:
• Tourism Leader — Elenoa Nimacere, Loretta St Julian-Ooms
• Accommodation Budget — South Sea Island
• Culinary Services — Malamala Beach Club
• Tour and Transport Operator — Blue Lagoon Cruises
