Several Barcelo Hotel Group Properties Honored With Green Globe Certification

The prestigious Green Globe certification has provided countless businesses with certification that assures the highest standard for sustainability worldwide for over two decades

MIAMI (April 17, 2019) – Barceló Hotel Group is proud to announce that Allegro Cozumel, Occidental Cozumel, Occidental Nuevo Vallarta and Barceló Puerto Vallarta have attained the Green Globe certification for the first time in 2019, which promotes the implementation of sustainability standards in the operation and management of resort destinations and communities. Additionally, Barceló Maya Grand Resort – comprised of the Barceló Maya Beach, Barceló Maya Caribe, Barceló Maya Colonial, Barceló Maya Tropical and Barceló Maya Palace – and Barceló Bávaro Grand Resort – comprised of the Barceló Bávaro Palace and the Barceló Bávaro Beach – have also been recertified by the organization in 2019.

“The Green Globe certification represents the highest standard for sustainability worldwide and we’re very excited that more Barceló properties have been distinguished this year,” said Juan Perez, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Barceló Hotel Group Latin America. “This important achievement is made possible by the diligent work from the teams at each resort who have made eco-friendliness a top priority year after year.”

The Green Globe certification evaluates the sustainable practices carried out by several travel and tourism businesses that aim to improve people’s quality of life and productivity. These practices include: the preservation of ecological balance, the protection of the environment, and the responsible use of resources without compromising the quality of life of future generations.

In addition to the Green Globe certification, several of the resorts have recently been awarded various prestigious certifications, including Cristal International Standards (Food, Room, Pool, Safety), Great Place to Work, TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence award and the AAA Four-Diamond Rating.
