Scenic Takes on Full Management of its Entire River Cruise Fleet for 2020

Boston & Vancouver, November 2019 – Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours announced that it was taking on full management of its entire river ship fleet cruising all of Europe’s rivers (Rhine, Main, Danube, Saône, Rhône, Seine and Douro) in 2020, as part of a global focus to ensure consistency and excellence in product delivery across the entire fleet.

“Scenic has been managing six vessels in the fleet internally since 2017, with G&P Cruise Hotel Management handling a further five,” said Rob Voss, COO Scenic Group. “The decision to take back the management function of these five ships is not related to performance. G&P and their crews have done a marvelous job delivering the desired guest experience as can be seen by the very high guest satisfaction survey results, regularly running at 95%. Instead this decision is the next logical step in delivery on a global brand, and the necessity for absolute product consistency and delivery across the entire fleet.”

The Scenic Group will also benefit from increased purchasing power to source top quality ingredients that will continue to differentiate the ship’s onboard dining experiences. Even more importantly, having the entire hospitality crew directly employed and managed by Scenic will enable the company to create a generation of crew who will genuinely exemplify the Scenic culture, and enable Scenic to invest in high level standards for crew, leveraging e-learning and enabling career paths.

Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours has grown over its 33-year history to include award-winning, all-inclusive river and ocean cruises and hand-crafted escorted land tours that take participants to many of the world’s most fascinating destinations. Scenic offers river cruises in Europe, SE Asia, Russia and Egypt on its 15 Space-Ships. Sister brand Emerald Waterways has seven Star-Ships offering European river sailings with an eighth launched this year for SE Asia’s Mekong River. In 2019, Scenic introduced the world’s first Discovery Yacht, the 228-guest Scenic Eclipse.
