Scenic Group Takes Home Four Magellan Awards for Travel Industry Excellence

Boston & Vancouver, September 2017 – The Scenic Group, which includes Scenic Luxury Cruises and Emerald Waterways, is proud to announce they have won four, 2017 Travel Weekly Magellan Awards, which honor outstanding design, marketing and services in the travel industry. Scenic won Gold for “Best Small Cruise Ship” for the Scenic Eclipse, and Silver for “Best Overall River Cruising.” Emerald Waterways took home two Silver awards for “Best Overall Contemporary Ship” and “Best Pool Design.”

“It’s a great honor to be recognized among our cruise peers in this competitive industry,” said Joni Rein, Vice President of US Sales and Marketing for Scenic. “We’re pleased that our efforts to raise the bar on river and now ocean cruising has been recognized by an important industry leader like Travel Weekly.”

The Gold Magellan Award-winning Scenic Eclipse, the world’s first Discovery Yacht, will launch in August 2018. Designed to deliver the ultimate experience in small ship ocean cruising for only 228 guests—with just 200 in the Arctic and Antarctica—the “6-star” mega yacht features 114 all-verandah suites, ten dining choices, two helicopters, a six-passenger submarine, a state-of-the-art theatre, a 5,900 ft² Spa Sanctuary and numerous lounge and bar areas, and a whole lot more. Top notch service, including butler service for every guest, is accomplished with a near 1:1 guest-to-crew ratio.

The Magellan Awards are judged and overseen by a panel of top travel professionals representing the best names and most accomplished leaders from the industry. In determining winners, entries do not compete with one another, instead they are judged against a standard of excellence based on the long experience of Travel Weekly.

Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours has grown over its 30-year history to include award-winning, all-inclusive escorted tours that take participants to many of the world’s most fascinating destinations; two award-winning river cruise lines – Scenic and Emerald Waterways; and, in 2018, the world’s first Discovery Yacht – Scenic Eclipse. Emerald Waterways’ seven Star Ships offer deluxe cruises in Europe, and the Mekong, while Scenic’s 15 Space Ships offer truly all-inclusive, five-star river cruises in the same destinations as well as the Irrawaddy River in Myanmar.
