Scenic and Emerald Waterways Take Stress Out of Travel Planning with Deposit Protection Plan

Guests needing to cancel or delay their cruise can reallocate a deposit toward future sailing

Boston & Vancouver, May 2017 – Travel planning can be stressful and unpredictable, especially for guests booking a trip well in advance of their travel date. To help relieve much of this stress, Scenic Luxury Cruises and Emerald Waterways, both part of the Scenic family of brands, are offering  cruise travelers some piece of mind with their newly launched Deposit Protection Plan. Working in conjunction with the brands’ one-of-a-kind River Cruise Travel Guarantee, guests can breathe easier knowing that they are well protected against many of the elements that can make vacation planning difficult.

The Deposit Protection Plan allows guests who need to cancel or change a cruise for any reason to reallocate their non-refundable deposit for use toward an alternative future sailing. Deposit protection can be purchased for $125 per person for river cruises and $250 per person for sailing on Scenic Eclipse, the world’s first Discovery Yacht, launching in 2018. The Deposit Protection Plan must be purchased at the time the deposit is due, and guests must rebook within 24 months of cancellation. It is non-transferable and covers cruise and tour deposits only, not air deposits.

Both brands also offer the River Cruise Travel Guarantee, which automatically covers every guest on the commencement of their cruise for any delays or cancellations due to weather, natural disasters, mechanical breakdowns or labor strikes. This guarantee is offered at no cost to guests and, unlike other cruise lines that offer credit toward future trips, Scenic and Emerald offer approved claimants direct monetary refunds, up to $750 (C$1,000) per day with a maximum of seven days or $5,250 (C$7,000) per guest.

Scenic has a 30-year history of offering award-winning, all-inclusive escorted tours in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, the Americas and elsewhere and is the parent company of two award-winning river cruise lines – Scenic and Emerald Waterways. The 2017 combined fleet of 22 ships provides the same level of expertise while Scenic also offers the only truly all-inclusive river cruises in Europe and the Mekong, Irrawaddy and Russia. The Scenic Eclipse, the World’s First Discovery Yacht, will launch on Aug. 31, 2018 with itineraries including the Americas; Antarctica; Europe and the Mediterranean; and the Arctic and Fjords.
