Riviera River Cruises’ MS Geoffrey Chaucer Wins Magellan Award

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Riviera River Cruises is proud to announce that it has received a 2021 Magellan Award from Travel Weekly for the design of its newest ship, the MS Geoffrey Chaucer. Riviera received a Gold Award in the category of Cruise – Overall-River Cruise Ship. This is the fourth year in a row Riviera has received a Magellan Award. According to Travel Weekly, the Magellan Awards honor the best in travel, from design to marketing to services, in a broad range of travel industry segments, including cruise lines. “At Riviera, we’re proud to maintain one of the youngest fleets sailing in Europe and the MS Geoffrey Chaucer is the most recent addition to it, so we’re thrilled that it’s a Gold winner in the Magellan Awards,” said Marilyn Conroy, Riviera River Cruises’ Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing North America. “Like our other all-suite ships, it has spacious accommodations with beautiful river views, a second restaurant and the elegant, comfortable styling of a boutique hotel, allowing guests to relax and enjoy their journey.”

The 443-foot MS Geoffrey Chaucer is an all-suite, boutique-style ship that affords the ultimate in space and comfort, accommodating 169 guests served by a professional crew of 44.

It features a harmonious color scheme and an exquisite blend of rich, sustainable hardwoods, gleaming brass, polished copper, sparkling glass, intricate wrought iron and contemporary lighting. Amenities include a panoramic observation lounge, main restaurant, fitness center, wellness area, hairdresser, boutique and sun deck. A second restaurant at the stern of the ship – the Rearview Kitchen – offers an open plan where guests can watch the chef at work, as well as panoramic windows that open to the terrace for al fresco dining.

The Chaucer’s 88 suites measure up to 269 square feet and provide magnificent river views. Deluxe Balcony Suites on the Diamond Deck feature floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors that open onto a small private balcony, while the remaining Diamond and Ruby Deck suites have a French balcony with floor-to-ceiling sliding-glass windows. And all suites feature a generous seating area, gleaming marble bathroom, individually controlled air conditioning, flat-screen TV, convenient minibar and coffee- and tea-making facilities, complimentary bathrobes and slippers, and other amenities.

Riviera River Cruises offers 20 itineraries on 10 rivers and waterways, including dedicated departures for solo travelers with no single supplement. Riviera’s fleet of 12 ships is one of the youngest in Europe, with spacious cabins and suites, and its cruises include fine culinary experiences, from splendid breakfasts to four-course dinners featuring international and regional specialties, as well as expert-led excursions to classic sights and lesser-known places.

Riviera guarantees exceptional value, promising never to add hidden surcharges or fees, and it doesn’t automatically include gratuities or drinks, so the choice is up to guests.
