Occidental at Xcaret Destination Honored with Green Globe Certification

For more than two decades, the prestigious Green Globe certification has provided countless businesses with certification that assures the highest standard for sustainability worldwide

MIAMI, Fla. (March 20, 2019) – For the second year in a row, the all-inclusive Riviera Maya resort Occidental at Xcaret Destination has been awarded the Green Globe certification. The certification promotes the implementation of sustainability standards in the operation and management of resort destinations and communities.

“Occidental at Xcaret Destination is proud to be at the forefront of sustainable resort practices,” said Diley Álvarez Aquino, quality manager at Occidental at Xcaret Destination. “Every day, the resort’s team strives for eco-friendliness and cultural mindfulness, whether it’s waste reduction, resource conservation or wildlife protection, while at the same time providing our guests with an unparalleled all-inclusive experience.”

The Green Globe certification represents the highest standard for sustainability worldwide. The certification evaluates the sustainable practices carried out by several travel and tourism businesses that aim to improve people’s quality of life and productivity. These practices include: the preservation of ecological balance, the protection of the environment, and the responsible use of resources without compromising the quality of life of future generations.

Part of the renowned Barceló Hotel Group, the 24-hour all-inclusive Occidental at Xcaret Destination is tucked within an ecological and historical preserve. The resort offers a complimentary riverboat (trajinera) to the Xcaret Eco-Park, located just adjacent to the resort. Here, you’ll uncover an array of eco-adventures, cultural immersion and delectable cuisine. The resort’s Unlimited Xcaret Xperience package offers guests unlimited access to the park’s 40 amazing exhibits and attractions, including underground rivers and pools, a Coral Reef Aquarium, a Butterfly Pavilion, a Manatee Lagoon and much more.
