Andy Stuart, President and COO of Norwegian Cruise Line, shared some great information at Cruise360 in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Norwegian Cruise Line is currently investing over $400 Million dollars into the “Norwegian Edge” program. The funds are being spread over a complete dry dock and renovation of their older ships, mass improvements on their private island destinations, as well as a large investment in the Partners First program.

The “Partners First” program is headed by Clark Reber, 20 year veteran in the Travel Industry. Clark is heading the support team to not only increase relationships with Independent Travel Professionals but also to increase motivation and incentive to sell Norwegian Cruise Line. “Our view as a team is that there is a better way to support the Independent Travel Professional,” said Andy Stuart. The team is working close with Host Travel Agencies to not only increase relationships but also to gain reach to their agents. The program is an ongoing effort to support the Norwegian Partners and learn more about the growing business of the Independent Travel Professional.

The four pillars of the “Partners First” program consist of:
– Ease of doing business
– Investment into the health of the Partners First channel
– Listening to the needs of the Partners First Channel
– The commitment to never get in between the relationship of a Travel Partner and their client

Norwegian Cruise Line ships going into dry dock aren’t just getting new curtains and cleaned carpet. A video privately shown to the press revealed the Norwegian Dawn being taken down to the steel in this massive renovation that will include new staterooms, common areas, features, attractions and activities. Each ship going into the renovation will undergo the same in depth process ensuring the highest quality ships on the sea.

Great Stirrup Cay, NCL’s private island is receiving a massive makeover as well including the addition of a new lagoon featuring 22 Private Villas available for rent. The Villa’s are available in studio, 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom and host a variety of luxurious features. The island is getting a $1 Million investment into it’s landscaping as new activities such as zip lining, underwater sculpture snorkeling, and much more. The island will be receiving new family activities and a 50% increase in restaurants and bars.

Harvest Key is also receiving new features such as air conditioned beach cabanas, new restaurants and bars, as well as increased shopping and activities. Andy Stuart said “This isn’t necessary just a private island, it’s a port of call.”

Norwegian Cruise Lines shared this information in a Press Conference at Cruise360, presented by CLIA. The future looks phenomenal for Norwegian and we were honored to be able to be present and learn more about their awesome improvements and growth.
