Nexion Travel Group Members Honored at CoNexion

Awards given to members for mentorship, networking, social media

 

IRVING, TX (September 14, 2019)–At CoNexion 2019, held in Orlando, Fla. from September 12-15, several Nexion Travel Group members were recognized for their contributions to Nexion Travel Group, the travel industry, and their fellow members. The member awards given were:

 

• Networks Leader of the Year

 

• Mentor Recognition Award

 

• Social Pro Award

 

• NexionTownie of the Year

 

Nexion Travel Group members gather together regularly in their local communities to form a “Nexion Network.” Led by a volunteer leader, each network is responsible for setting their monthly agendas, arranging speakers and topics. The Nexion Networks Leader of the Year is Tim Larison, owner of Family Travel Gurus in Aurora, Colo.,who leads the Denver Nexion Network.

 

Denise Emory, a Denver Nexion Network member commented in his/her nomination of Larison: “In my opinion, the true success story is how Tim has created a welcoming environment where we all know and respect one another. It is nice to be part of this group of professionals and know that we’ll be able to share experiences and best practices with each other.  Whether we are attending an event organized just for Nexion Travel Group agents, or for all agents in the area, Nexion Travel Group has a strong presence!”

 

The ACT (Agents Connecting Together) Mentor Award was given to Bill Tilburg, owner of Global Travel Advisors in Mansfield, Mass. The award recognizes a Nexion Travel Group member who has devoted considerable time and effort to mentoring fellow members and helping them develop their business and capabilities as a travel advisor.

 

Mary Stephens, a mentee of Tilburg’s who nominated him for the ACT Mentor award, commented, “Bill has been extremely valuable with helping me narrow down my focus on luxury travel and is currently working through marketing strategies with me. He has clear objectives for me each time we speak and I come away knowing exactly what my next steps are to grow my business.”

 

Shylar Bredewold of Odyssean Travel, based in Ontario, was honored as Social Pro of the Year. Bredewold has extensive experience in using social media to market his business and regularly gives back by helping his fellow members with their social media issues.

 

“Shy takes his social media game seriously — and has created a seamless online experience where consumers can soak up inspiring travel photos and video with useful tips and advice, no matter what social platform the viewer prefers. He posts consistently, engages with clients online, and shares a huge variety of destinations, experiences, and useful information about them all,” said Lesley Hornal, who nominated Bredewold for this award.

 

Mary Anne Thoman of Travel Connections, based in Tulsa, Okla., was chosen as this year’s NexionTownie of the Year. This award is given to the Nexion Travel Group member who in an active and committed member of NexionTown, the site for Nexion Travel Group members to connect. Thoman was nominated for this award by various staff at Nexion Travel Group who noticed her activity and willingness to engage with and help others on NexionTown.
