New Zealand Wines Take Center Stage In Crystal’s ‘Culinary Journeys’ Video Series With Chef Jon Ashton

MIAMI, May 29, 2019 – In the latest episode of “Crystal Cruises Presents: A Culinary Journey Hosted by Chef Jon Ashton,” the spotlight shines on the pairing of New Zealand’s signature wines and the culinary artistry of Crystal Serenity’s chefs. Chef Jon Ashton joins Master Sommelier Cameron Douglas just outside of Auckland where they explore the perfect vintages to pair with a multi-course dinner in the ship’s Vintage Room.

 

Viewers can follow Ashton and Douglas to Kumeu River Winery and Villa Maria Winery, where they discuss the nuances of the vintages produced by each, as well as other characteristics of New Zealand wines. The two then return to Crystal Serenity to present their selections to the evening’s dinner guests, paired with six distinct courses created especially for the occasion. Guests are guided through the pairing journey by the two experts, who highlight tasting notes of the Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and other vintages, as well as the complementary fresh ingredients featured in each dish.

 

Visiting an array of locales around the world with Crystal Serenity, the “Culinary Journey” video series features local chefs, farmers and expert guides showcasing the signature dishes – and tips for preparing them – in an array of locales, taking him and viewers off the beaten paths into the heart of each place’s culinary spirit.
