Majestic Hotel & Spa Barcelona to Showcase the Work of Internationally Renowned Fashion Photographer Jean-Daniel Lorieux

From October 9 to November 9, the five-star luxury hotel will display 20 of the legendary photographer’s exclusive pieces throughout the property

 

BARCELONA, Spain (August 15, 2019) Majestic Hotel & Spa Barcelona, the five-star luxury hotel with a privileged location in the heart of Barcelona on Passeig de Gràcia, will exhibit the distinguished work of highly recognized fashion photographer, Jean-Daniel Lorieux this fall. The month-long display, debuting on October 9, will feature a selection of Lorieux’s most representative pieces produced throughout his 30-year career. The iconic photographer, who rose to fame during the 1970s, has collaborated with prestigious luxury, haute couture and jewelry brands and has had his work cover the pages of notable fashion magazines including Vogue.

 

Lorieux’s photographs from the 1970s to 1990s will be displayed in Spain for the first time, including pieces that capture the beauty of top models such as Li Sellgren, Stephanie Seymour, Terry Tate and Karen Mulder.  The photographs will be available for purchase to the benefit of a local charity. The hotel will donate proceeds to Fundació IReS, a non-profit organization that focuses on the social, psychological, and educational care of marginalized individuals and groups who find themselves in situations of social risk or financial difficulty.

 

In a city as vibrant as Barcelona, Majestic Hotel & Spa Barcelona has always had close ties with the art world. Artists such as Pablo Picasso and Joan Miró have previously visited the luxurious hotel, and today, the property’s art collection features more than 1,000 pieces including paintings, sculptures and graphic works, displayed throughout the hotel. In fact, thanks to the namesake artist’s affinity for the hotel – Majestic Hotel & Spa Barcelona is also a valued partner of the Joan Miró Foundation in Barcelona.

 

Throughout his career, Lorieux has worked with various industry leaders including, Claudia Schiffer, Geraldine Chaplin, Sharon Stone, Brook Shields and Carla Bruni, as well as prominent celebrities including Jacques Chirac, Mick Jagger, Farah Fawcett, Johnny Hallyday and Charles Aznavour. Lorieux’s work was acquired by the European House of Photography, serving as a testament to his talent and eye for creativity.

 

Lorieux’s anticipated exhibition is not only a great accomplishment for Majestic Hotel & Spa Barcelona but also a milestone for Spain’s fashion industry.
