Insight Vacations Cares and TreadRight Partner with One Tree Planted to Support Global Reforestation

Planting trees in California for every guest who chooses to receive travel documents electronically

RYE, N.Y., March 21, 2018Insight Vacations, the award-winning leader in premium escorted travel, is proud to announce on International Day of Forests its new partnership with One Tree Planted, a leading not-for-profit organization focused on global reforestation whose mission is to create a world full of trees.

Since 2012, March 21st has been a day of global celebration of and awareness about the countless ways forests sustain and protect humans. In addition to helping mitigate the impact of climate change by storing carbon, forests and trees help improve climate, reduce noise pollution, and remove harmful substances from the air. The United Nations’ research findings state that approximately 1.6 billion global citizens – including more than 2,000 Indigenous cultural groups – depend on forests for their livelihoods, food, housing, fuel and medicines.

On this International Day of Forests, Insight Cares and its not-for-profit TreadRight Foundation, alongside Treadright Ambassador Céline Cousteau and One Tree Planted, would like to call attention to Insight’s newly introduced e-Documents feature available with every trip booked. As one of The Travel Corporation’s (TTC) family of brands, Insight Vacations is a founding member of The TreadRight Foundation and shares a collective desire to protect and conserve the stunningly beautiful environments, fascinating cultures and awe-inspiring communities of our natural world.

“On behalf of Insight Cares, we are fully supportive of our partnership with One Tree Planted and continue to work with TreadRight in hopes of doing our part to make the world a little greener and create a more sustainable future,” said Phil Cappelli, president of Insight Vacations. “e-Documents are exactly the same as paper documents, but are able to save trees by minimizing the carbon footprint of travel documents. They can be easily accessed from a mobile device, allowing guests to access them quickly and at any convenient time.”

For every guest who chooses to receive their travel documents electronically as e-Documents rather than paper documents, One Tree Planted will plant one tree in Northern California with help from their NGO partners who work with local communities to ensure that the proper native tree species are planted in the most sustainable manner. Since 2013, their partners have planted more than a million trees worldwide.

California’s forests provide innumerable benefits, including clean water and air, recreation, timber, habitat, and beautiful scenery. Healthy forests also play an important role in addressing climate change. However, five years of drought, a large-scale bark beetle infestation, and the record-breaking wildfire season in 2017 which burned more than 1.3 million acres have seriously damaged California’s forests. Now, a record 129 million trees need to be restored in California.
