Riviera Maya – October 29th, 2020 – Committed to celebrating Mexican culture, Grupo Xcaret, the leader in sustainable tourism, will virtually broadcast an homage to its iconic Festival of Life and Death Traditions celebrating Day of the Dead. For the very first time, viewers from across the globe will be able to tune into Xcaret Park’s YouTube channel and experience a look behind the scenes at the iconic celebration in the comfort of their own homes.
“A few months ago, we made the decision to postpone the Festival of Life and Death Traditions to safeguard the welfare of our visitors, collaborators and guests, which follows the World Health Organization security measures recommendation to avoid high attendance events. At the same time, we look for ways to reinvent ourselves and keep this tradition alive, an event has been named an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, and continue sharing it with all of Mexico and the world using technology that allows us all be closer today more than ever.” said Lizeth Álvarez, Chief Commercial Officer of Grupo Xcaret.
The documentary will premiere on Nov. 1st at 7:00 pm (EST) via Xcaret Park’s YouTube channel. The show will offer a run-through the history of the festival, its socio-cultural impact and the artistic expressions that this Mexican tradition entails. Its backdrop will be the iconic settings of Xcaret Park that are part of the festival every year, such as the Cemetery, the Crypt of Sighs and the Hacienda Henequenera.
“For Grupo Xcaret, the Festival of Life and Death Traditions is deeply meaningful, not only because it allows us to extol the value of a tradition so rooted in the Mexican spirit as the Day of the Dead, but also because, since its first edition back in 2006, it gives us the opportunity to show the richness of our culture and preserve the historical legacy of this celebration. We want to thank everyone for their support and invite them to continue commemorating our traditions together. This year, technology will allow us to bring the festival to fans’ homes while we prepare to welcome guests and visitors next year at Xcaret Park and Hotel Xcaret Mexico to enjoy, live and feel this tradition in all its splendor,” added Lizeth Álvarez.
Through this initiative, Grupo Xcaret reiterates its commitment to showcasing the cultural richness of Mexico and offering experiences that enhance the value and meaning of a tradition so deeply rooted in the Mexican spirit.
