GoNexus Group appoints Javier Arévalo as Managing Director of two new divisions: Global DMC Network and Hospitality Partnerships

Cancun, Mexico, 16 September, 2024 – GoNexus Group, a leading experiences and mobility travel group – is proud to announce the appointment of Javier Arévalo as Managing Director of two new divisions: Global DMC Network and Hospitality Partnerships.

This move marks Javier’s transition from a non-executive role – having been a member of GoNexus Group’s board of directors since 2023 – to an executive leadership position within the company, where he will report directly to Rubén Gutiérrez, President of GoNexus Group.

Arévalo brings over 30 years of leadership experience in the travel technology and hospitality industry. Before his current appointment, he held a variety of senior executive roles in the industry, including at HBX Group (formerly known as Hotelbeds), where he served for more than two decades in different positions. During his time at Hotelbeds he served as Managing Director for the Americas and Executive VP and Global Managing Director of Beyond The Bed (BTB), the Experiences and Mobility division of HBX Group, where under his leadership BTB became a leader in the experiences and mobility ecosystem, selling tours, activities, and mobility through renowned brands such as Hotelbeds, Bedsonline, Carnect, and Holiday Taxis. In addition he was a member of the board of directors and his work at HBX Group also spanned major travel brands like Barceló, First Choice, and TUI, where he played a pivotal role in growing market share and strategic partnerships.

In addition to his corporate leadership, Javier has been an active board advisor, executive coach, and business mentor for various companies in the travel and technology sectors, further cementing his role as a thought leader and strategist in the industry.

Under Javier Arevalo’s leadership at GoNexus Group the creation of the Global DMC Network and Hospitality Partnerships – further details about which will be announced shortly – represents the company’s commitment to expanding its service offerings and enhancing global connections in the travel sector. These divisions will focus on streamlining destination management services and forging strategic partnerships with hospitality providers.

Rubén Gutiérrez, President of GoNexus Group, said: “Javier’s appointment marks a significant step in GoNexus Group’s long-term vision for expansion. His leadership will focus on enhancing the company’s global footprint, increasing market share, and fostering strategic partnerships to deliver cutting-edge solutions and services across the travel industry. His expertise in travel, along with his extensive leadership background, will be critical in driving the success of these initiatives”.

Commenting on his new function, Javier Arevalo said: “I am thrilled to step into this executive position at such a transformative time for GoNexus Group after collaborating with the Board of Directors in a non-executive role. The travel industry is at a turning point, and the launch of these divisions will allow us to better serve the evolving needs of our clients. I’m just getting going and will announce more details following a review. I look forward to leading these efforts, driving innovation, and creating value for our partners globally.”
