First Look at Brand New Emerald Harmony Mekong River Ship

First Ship in Fleet to Eliminate Single-Use Plastics Onboard

Boston, MA (September, 2019) – Emerald Waterways’ brand-new Star-Ship, Emerald Harmony, is ready to welcome her first guests as she prepares to set sail on the Mekong River through Cambodia and Vietnam on August 31. To mark the inaugural sailing, the first images of Emerald Harmony’s stylish and contemporary interior have been released and are available for download.

In addition to the ground-breaking design that allow this modern ship to cruise all the way into the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, the Emerald Harmony will also become the first Star-Ship to remove all single use plastics. Guests will be provided a complementary metal water bottle to refill from water stations on the ship, and reusable glass water bottles will be provided in the cabins. In addition, recyclable bamboo and paper straws will be used in the Reflections Restaurant and Horizon Bar & Lounge and cabin toiletry miniatures will be replaced with refillable dispensers, making the Harmony the “greenest” ship in the fleet. Emerald Waterways has announced they are planning to make all their Star-Ships single-use plastic free by the end of 2020.

Guests looking to cruise on this innovative new ship can choose from a variety of itineraries. A selection of 13-, 17- and 21-day cruise and land tours combine an 8-day sailing between Siem Reap, Cambodia and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam with overnights in Hanoi, Halong Bay and Hoi An, Vietnam at beginning or end of the cruise. An eight-day sailing only option is a good introductory option for those looking to whet their appetities for a Mekong journey. Daily excursions for all itineraries are aimed at revealing the local culture and history.

Emerald Waterways is celebrating the launch with a special offer of a free extension to Sapa or Luang Prabang on all itineraries, or two flights for the price of one combined with free extensions on 17-21 night itineraries. Offer valid on any new Mekong sailings booked by October 31, 2019.

The Harmony is the second ship from parent company Scenic Group to launch this August. The world’s first discovery yacht, Scenic Eclipse, made her maiden voyage earlier this month.

Emerald Waterways’ river cruises offer contemporary, deluxe ships, outstanding service and an incredibly inclusive pricing plan. Cruise fares include all transfers; all port charges; all onboard (and some on-shore) meals; unlimited specialty tea and coffee, wine, beer and soft drinks with lunch and dinner; bottled water in the cabins replenished daily; continental breakfast, pre-dinner canapés and after-dinner sweet treats served in the top suites; complimentary Wi-Fi onboard the ship; most shore excursions as well as all onboard and excursion gratuities. On touring days, hotel accommodations, internal flights, and transfers are also included.

Part of Scenic Group, Emerald Waterways’ eight branded Star-Ships offer river sailings in Europe and on the Mekong, as well as the MS Rossia along the Volga River in Russia; the MS Swallow and MS Lastavica yachts in Croatia; and the MS Hamees on the Nile.
