Destination Wedding and Honeymoon Specialist Association Announces New President

LISA SHELDON BECOMES DWHSA PRESIDENT;
CHERYL STEWART IS DWHSA’S INAUGURAL MASTER SPECIALIST

NASHVILLE, Tenn., August 21st, 2018 – Lisa Sheldon (I Do Island Weddings, Janesville, Wis.) will become the first president of the Destination Wedding & Honeymoon Specialists Association (DWHSA) effective Sept. 1.

Sheldon has served as DWHSA’s executive director since she co-founded the group in February 2013. With more than 900 current members in six countries, DWHSA is now the world’s largest specialty travel association launched and managed by travel agents.

“This promotion for Lisa reflects her tireless commitment to growing the association, as well as DWHSA’s expanding status within the global travel industry,” said John Hawks, DWHSA’s administrator. “We look forward to great things under her continued leadership.”

“DWHSA has been my passion project for many years, and we have many exciting developments coming for the association in 2019 and beyond,” Sheldon noted. “The credit for DWHSA’s growth goes to the hundreds of hard-working agents in the romance travel niche who’ve supported us from the start.”

Also, Cheryl Stewart – the owner of From This Day Forward Travel in Pickerington, Ohio – is the first DWHSA member to earn the association’s highest certification level: Certified Destination Wedding, Honeymoon, and Romance Travel Master Specialist.

“Almost 150 DWHSA members have passed the exam for our basic certification level,” Sheldon said. “We created the Master Specialist level for very experienced romance travel specialists, and the process requires many extra steps such as a white paper, experiential essays, and a marketing plan for the agent’s business. The Master Specialist process is designed to take as long as a year to complete. We congratulate Cheryl on being the very first DWHSA member to earn our highest-level designation.”
