Cancun Tourism Board Celebrates Successful Year of Growth at VIP Event

 

Cancun, Q.Roo (December 12, 2017) – The Cancun Tourism Board celebrated another successful year in tourism at a special VIP event held at the Georgia Aquarium it Atlanta this past Wednesday, December 6.

 

Over 140 local travel agents and industry partners came together to join 16 destination exhibitors from the top hotels in the Cancun, Riviera Maya and Cozumel regions. Guests also included representatives from the Cancun Tourism Board, Riviera Maya Tourism Board and Mexico Tourism Board, as well as longtime partner Delta Vacations, hoteliers and tour operators.

 

Tourism officials at the event were on hand to thank the agents for their continued support and to celebrate a banner year. Spokespersons for the destination announced that international visitors to Mexico have increased by more than nine percent in 2017, when comparing the same period between January and July of the previous year. Cancun and Riviera Maya, known for their tourism infrastructure and world-renowned beaches, are the top drivers for this increase with over 7.6 million tourists received from January to September. The event also highlighted the destination’s forecast for 2018.

 

During the event, Director of the Cancun Tourism Board Lizzie Cole provided attendees with information on the exciting activities and new developments coming to Cancun and Riviera Maya in 2018, including new hotel openings (Renaissance, SLS, Punta del Mar and Ushuaia Beach Hotel), new restaurants, Cancun International Airport’s new terminal and new shopping centers.

 

“Cancun and the Riviera Maya are gearing up for a fantastic 2018,” said Cole. “New luxury and all-inclusive hotels, additional connectivity via our air partners, and world-class dining and amenities will continue to entice travelers and provide an excellent vacation experience for visitors.”

 

The event was organized with the support of the Mexico Tourism Board’s Atlanta office and the evening concluded with 15 lucky winners receiving a complimentary five-day Fam trip to Cancun and Riviera Maya made possible by Delta Vacations.
