Boat Bike Tours Offers World’s 1st Cruise-and-Cycle Tour of Egypt and Nile River

A groundbreaking 13-day journey where guests cruise, cycle, and connect with Egypt’s ancient wonders — from the Red Sea to the Great Pyramids.

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Boat Bike Tours will set out on a bold new adventure in 2026 with a first-of-its-kind tour of Egypt and the Nile River. With special permission, guests will travel the country in a way no others have, leaving behind popular tourist routes to e-bike through a pristine Red Sea resort, among the Nile’s fertile farmlands, small villages and immense monuments, and to the Great Pyramids outside Cairo. Off their bikes, they’ll enjoy the comforts of deluxe hotels and an all-suite ship. The 13-day tour starts at €5,299 per person based on double occupancy with discounts available for a limited time on the first two departures, Feb. 5 and 19, 2026. “Our new Egypt & The Nile tour is the most innovative itinerary we’ve ever offered – there’s never been anything like it,” said Laurens Winkel, CEO of Boat Bike Tours. “Riding on quieter roads, we’ll see the country up close and at the perfect pace to take in its centuries of history, contrasting landscapes and daily life, showing that bike travel is possible there. Be among the first to join us for a truly unforgettable adventure.”

Special Permission

With special permission from the government arranged by Boat Bike Tours, the Egypt & the Nile tour will e-bike primarily on quieter roads instead of popular tourist routes, allowing for up-close encounters with the people, monuments and landscapes along the way.

Licensed Egyptologists will also join as travel companions during rides, sharing stories that span centuries.

Ancient Wonders and Modern Life

The tour begins in the Red Sea resort of El Gouna, where there’s time to unwind after arrival, then get comfortable on an e-bike with a ride along palm-lined boulevards, tranquil canals and the luxury marina.

Leaving the coast and traveling inland, the Nile is the heart of the adventure. Spend a week pedaling past farmers in their fields, bustling markets and alabaster workshops to magnificent temples like Karnak, Luxor, Kom Ombo, Philae and Horus, as well as the monumental High Dam and the Valley of the Kings, where the tombs of pharaohs were carved into rock more than 3,000 years ago. Also visit a Nubian village to learn about daily life from locals and schoolchildren, cross the river on a traditional sailing ship, stop to see St. Bakhamious Monastery and boat through the bird-rich Aswan Nature Reserve.

After an internal flight, Cairo brings the Citadel of Saladin’s sweeping views, the Step Pyramid of Sakkara, Coptic Cairo’s churches and synagogues, and workshops where artisans continue their age-old crafts.

For the finale, guests will ride to the Great Pyramids and Sphinx on the Giza Plateau, then to the brand-new Grand Egyptian Museum, with its extensive exhibits covering 5,000 years of history.

Comfortable and Safe

To make the tour as stress-free as possible, a Boat Bike Tours representative will welcome guests at the airport, and visas, transfers and an internal flight from Luxor to Cairo are included.

Deluxe hotels located in the marina in El Gouna and in New Cairo’s Mirage City provide comfortable accommodations on each end of the tour, while the luxurious all-suite H/S Nebu serves as a floating home on the Nile.

And on the road, e-bikes make for easier riding, and guides, Egyptologists, support vans and local escorts ensure safety.
