Blue Diamond Resorts Flips The Switch For Earth Hour

Team members from Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun, An Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort take part in the resort’s Earth Hour initiatives cleaning up the beach

TORONTO, March 31, 2023Blue Diamond Resorts, the Caribbean’s fastest growing resort group, celebrated Earth Hour on Saturday, March 25 with over 60 resorts, guests and team members participating in the initiative.  This is an annual time where Green Globe Certified Blue Diamond Resorts powers down its energy usage across its resorts by turning off any non-essential lights for one hour.

Across each of the participating resorts, staff members gathered to count down to Earth Hour and inform guests of the property’s participation and sustainability efforts. Additional activities included conducting beach sweeps to pick up trash, non-electrical acoustic performances for guests, an LED light show and a fashion runway show using recyclable materials.

“As one of the largest management companies of resorts in the world’s most beautiful destinations, we know it’s our responsibility to limit our carbon footprint and reduce energy consumption and waste.  Earth Hour is a demonstration of our commitment to preserve natural resources including wildlife, oceans, and nature preserves, for future generations of travelers to enjoy responsibly,” said Alejandro Rodriguez del Peon, director of marketing and public relations for Blue Diamond Resorts.

Sustainable initiatives are a top priority for its more than 60 Blue Diamond Resorts spread across eight countries with eight distinct brands including Royalton Luxury Resorts, Hideaway at Royalton Resorts, Royalton CHIC Resorts, Planet Hollywood Hotels & Resorts and Mystique by Royalton Resorts. Blue Diamond Resorts strives to become a leader in sustainable tourism by minimizing its impact on the environment and improve local communities and adhere to internationally accepted criteria for the sustainable operation and management of hotels.
