Barcelona’s Iconic Majestic Hotel & Spa Awarded for its Commitment to Sustainability

The hotel has been awarded with the Biosphere Sustainable Lifestyle 2023 certificate for its commitment to sustainability.

 

Barcelona, Spain (March 14, 2023) – Barcelona’s historic and iconic five-star hotel, Majestic Hotel & Spa has been awarded with the Biosphere Sustainable Lifestyle 2023 certificate. The meaning of luxury has evolved over time and is now more closely aligned with sustainability, prioritizing customer experience while fulfilling the needs of current generations without compromising the needs of future generation. The ability to maintain and ensure balance between economic growth, environmental care and social well-being, is what makes Majestic Hotel stand out and thus, receive this recognition.

 

According to the institution, Majestic has excelled in “evidencing compliance with the actions of Biosphere Sustainable aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, involving staff in a common project and being highly recognized and valued by its consumers.”

 

In the words of Pascal Billard, general manager of Majestic Hotel & Spa Barcelona, this recognition “demonstrates our involvement and commitment to sustainability as an indispensable part of our luxury concept. This certification will also allow us to reinforce our sustainability culture and position ourselves within the sector in a more competitive way by understanding that the ultimate goal is to work in efforts to maintain and support this process over time, with the aim of preserving the future”.

 

This emblematic hotel in Barcelona has shown its firm commitment to sustainability by carrying out specific energy efficiency actions, such as management, control, and consumption reduction of its activity; reduction of waste generation and food waste through the donation of excess food to NGOs; good practices towards a more circular economy; and the renewal ISO 14001: 2015 + EMAS during the year 2022, thus being certified with the necessary requirements.

 

On the other hand, it advances its operations by obtaining more environmentally friendly and nearby products, in addition to taking the necessary sustainability actions, certifications and management systems of collaborating businesses.

 

The hotel continues to demonstrate its dedication to solidarity by supporting different organizations, NGOs and local foundations.
