Americans Rank New York City and Cancun as 2018’s Top Valentine’s Day Destinations

Richmond, VA, January 30, 2018 Allianz Global Assistance, a leading provider of travel insurance, has reviewed Americans’ Valentine’s Day travel plans and found that New York and Cancun once again top the list as this year’s most popular domestic and international destinations for the romantic weekend.

Allianz Global Assistance analyzed travel plans* for two people from U.S. airports departing between February 9 and February 11, 2018 and returning between February 10 and February 12, 2018, with a minimum one-night stay.

Domestically, the results show that following New York, travelers are heading to Las Vegas, Boston, Fort Lauderdale and Los Angeles to celebrate the holiday.

The survey also revealed that some Americans are seeking an international getaway to celebrate the most romantic weekend of the year. Cancun, Mexico tops the international list again, followed in popularity by San Juan, Puerto Rico; Oranjestad, Aruba; San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico and Nassau, Bahamas.

“It is always interesting to see where our customers are traveling to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Some are after beach vacations, while other couples are looking for cultural getaways,” said Daniel Durazo, director of communications for Allianz Global Assistance USA. “No matter the couple, those traveling domestically or internationally should consider protecting their investment with travel insurance. The right travel insurance policy can provide peace of mind with coverage and assistance for many unexpected events, allowing travelers to unwind and focus on each other on Valentine’s Day.”

Allianz Global Assistance offers travel insurance** through most major U.S. airlines, leading travel agents, online travel agencies, other travel suppliers and directly to consumers.
