Allianz Global Assistance Announces Winners Of Its 2017 “Scholartrips” Scholarship Program

Winning Entries Receive Cash Prizes to Help Students Explore the World

 

 

Richmond, VA, January 22, 2018 Allianz Global Assistance USA, a leading provider of travel insurance, has announced the winners of its 2017 annual“ScholarTrips” essay and video contest.  More than 40 students have received nearly $40,000 in prizes in this year’s contest, bringing total prizes awarded by the program since its inception to more than $175,000. The ScholarTripsprogram recognizes college and high school students who want to explore the world and has provided funding to contest winners since 2004.  The contest required students to submit a video or essay that answers the question: Who your ideal travel companion is (can be living or dead), where you would go, and why.

 

This year, the company received a more than 800 entries. Six First Place winners received $2,500, Ten Second Place Winners received $1,500 and 25 Third Place winners received $500 each.  Each video or essay was scored based on its passion, impact and creativity.   Samples of outstanding entries include Jining Yan’s “An Experience is Only as Good as You Make It,” Sophia Pitney’s“Don’t Let Dreams Be Dreams,” and Kathleen Shanahan’s “Come Fly With Me.”  A full list of winners can be found on the ScholarTrips website. Allianz Global Assistance hopes that winners will use their awards to help fund their desire to travel to new places and experience new cultures.
